Karla...wasn't comfortable with their new location. So many buildings, squished together, too much asphalt over the ground, too much steel and concrete and glass and plastic. Even in New York, she had been able to feel the land calling to her; Central Park's miles of greenery had helped ease the ache of being trapped in the middle of an artificial landscape.

Today, she was settling back into her routine after having been away from the shop for a few weeks: cleaning the store, doing an inventory of stock, eying a few items for later purchase...

And mostly trying to ignore the island across the Causeway.

It was Monday and the island had moved, so, usually, Ariel didn't bother coming into work. It was work; it wasn't nearly as important as exploring. However, this location was definitely much different than the previous ones, and those cyborgs did not take kindly to bubbly little redhead stirring up trouble. They were insistent, too, and she was actually pretty impressed that she'd managed to escape them. Since exploring was out, at least for a few days, Ariel figured she might as well go into work.

She was soaking wet from the rain when she got in, late, but she didn't seem to mind that too much. She rung out her hair a little, and then mopped the puddle up. She switched into one of the rock band t-shirts while she hung her dress up to dry, and then went about picking out the music for the day. Let's see...Right! She was on V today, and wound up picking Veruca Salt and being very glad for it. It suited her energy after being chased through Tokyo by cyborgs.

There were some mornings when she showed up at the diner and everything was normal. With the island in its current itinerant mood and the scenery across the causeway changing from week to week, 'normal' for Fandom was even more relative than it usually was, but that was sort of the point: 'normal' for Fandom was a constantly changing concept.

Still, Lacey didn't count on things like walking into the kitchen and finding a model volcano made out of bread, erupting oatmeal at a vigorous rate.

". . . not asking," she declared immediately, and headed back out to the front of the diner to leave that to the staff.

Saturday shift available

Luke's is open, and not in a terribly breakfasty mood today, it seems. Odd, that.

[OOC: Perhaps inspired by what happens when you try to cook steel-cut oats in a shallow bowl in a 1250-watt microwave.

. . . the OCD went where half the oatmeal did. :/]

Yippee! Butters had made it onto the radio! He was a real broadcaster, with his very own radio show! He'd have to get a theme song, and he'd have to maybe get a catch phrase, and maybe book some guests to interview and...

Of course, he had a while before he got to get to that, and he had his other job to worry about first. With radio on the brain, Butters was tinkering with a few beat-up radios and recorders. If he got one working, he'd work on a few practice run-through so that he was in tip-top shape come his next performance.

Angelica was excited and anxious about starting her new job. She loved horses -- shut up, Nathan -- but she was still terrified she might do something to hurt one of them. Grooming the horses went without incident, however, which lifted her spirits considerably.

She hoped Emma -- the real Emma -- wouldn't be mad at her for taking the job. She missed Butter Rum so much.

[ooc: And again off to Disney for the day, but should anyone visit will pick up pings when we return this evening.]

Alex made it into work, wondering where the island might take them to next. She hadn't minded the walk to work and the sights, since the new surroundings reminded her a lot of home.

She decided she'd investigate them closer on her lunch break. For now, she set to cleaning the store and taking inventory of the stock in the back.

Momoko was EXTREMELY happy to wake up and find all of her normal clothes in her closet and her hair not teased a foot tall and coated in hairspray.

(She would kind of miss the vintage posters, though. They were kind of awesome.)

She took advantage of the occasion to wear a nice dress in to work today, and, when she stepped outside, received another pleasant surprise! In the distance... was that... JAPAN?!?! IT TOTALLY WAS! She skipped her way around any mud puddles and into Cabot and Associates, ready to research whatever cases she could find on the judge that Ms Cabot had talked about and then go exploring.

Any visitors in the first hour or so would find her whistling cheerfully, setting up the office, and giggling about various places she was going to go when she left work.

After that hour, though, Momoko found herself absorbed in the judge's casefiles, frowning, her pen skittering across her notebook. She was totally not understanding the decisions Judge Taft had made, and she had a LOT of citations she would have to look up later.

Jack was behind the bar trying to make small talk with Tiny, which was going about as badly as you could imagine. So far neither of them had picked "Japan of the future!" as where they were: Jack had money down on Singapore, which was...closeish, at least.

The Devil's Nest was open! And slightly confused.
