Between his birthday and Kate's news, Bod's week had been fairly busy. It was nice to get back to a routine though and he took a deep, contented breath when he slipped into the diner. The cooking staff already had the food going and Bod took a minute to enjoy the smells before he made his way back behind the counter to get the diner ready to open.

Audrey got in to the station early, set her coffee down, and got settled in to get to work. There was nothing unusual about that, and in fact it was pretty routine already.

What was unusual was that when she went to get something out of a drawer, she caught sight of a squirrel out of the corner of her eye. A squirrel that, if she wasn't mistaken, was holding... a notebook? It stopped when it saw her, then scampered away out of sight.

Just when Audrey thought she was getting used to things.

Ben was on the phone with Portalocity confirming his and Ender's trip to...somewhere. The company was running some kind of super-cheap special (and "super-cheap" was what made Ben's ears perk up) where they wouldn't tell him where they were sending him (or when), but promised that it was a nice, safe place with plenty of sky to look at, a place to sleep, and nothing to eat him.

He'd checked three times on the "nothing to eat him" part.

He finally disconnected the call, tried his Jaina's number and got nowhere, and turned his attention to tweaking a Blackberry, mostly for something to do.

He was very interruptable.

Tara'd had a quiet kind of week since she caught up with Jono, and mercifully her time in the shop didn't break her streak. Once she'd checked the shop's stock and ordered a few refills of out-of-stock herbs and such, she settled in at the counter with a notebook to work on some homework.

Someone had delivered a selection of 2011 calendars to the shop by mistake. Or, you know, not: because there was a little card there that said, Do you wish to pre-order for 2012?

And now she was perusing the catalogs, wondering why glass was a good idea. Seriously. She kept thinking of horrible accidents.

So... Miley had a first date tonight. With a guy she'd already kissed. A lot. And she was a little bit nervous about it, because, well, despite all the awkwardness and the fact that he was two years younger than her, she actually liked him.

So she'd decided that the only way to make this not awkward was to wear a new dress and boots and wait outside the movie theater pretending like this was a normal first date. As you do.
