Britta was at work, but Britta wasn't happy about it.

It was a necessary evil. Though Samus had moved on to different things and informed Britta that her debt was paid, there was still the fact of the matter that Britta had no money. And Britta liked to do things, which cost money, but there were very few ways to get money besides working. She was trying to come up with a few contingency plans, but, for the moment, her bad habits were going to have to be fueled by good, honest hard work.

If you could count knitting at the register while grumbling about the yoke of corporate capitalist slavery honest hard work.

Alice was excited for her new job. For one thing, it kept her in Fandom just a little while longer. For another, it gave her a chance to meet people she might not have ordinarily met.

As soon as she got in, she checked on everything to make sure the inventory was set and everything else was prepped and ready. As soon as that was done, she began randomly roaming the shop just to explore.

So here it was. Quinn's last shift ever as a front desk employee. That meant there was a cake for her after lunch, and the housekeepers were even nice to her as they shared it.

Quinn didn't even think they were being nice just because they were happy she was going.

She took a second piece of cake back to her desk then went to fuss with the lobby flowers. It might be her last day, but the hotel was going to look as nice as it could before she went.
