The students were back in town, which made Jack feel a bit less like the last man on a deserted island as he walked to work today.

Once he got to the club, he divided his attention between the last of the liquor license paperwork; ordering some books and other supplies for Allie (though the question of what a teenage vampire from a post-apocalyptic world might want to read was a bit beyond him -- he hoped she liked the classics); and texting Emma to tease her into coming back for Homecoming.

It made for a busy but interesting day. It took him a bit to recognize, but what he felt was content.

He'd see how long it would last.

A quiet week on the island turned out to be just what Priestly needed. He'd never realized how quiet the place got when most of the students were out of town. It was almost creepy.

Jake had not gone to Africa. And no, he totally wasn't bitter. Really. Who had time to be bitter when he was busy trying to wrangle the Troopers? Not him.

But right now Jake was taking a break from that in order to do his other job, which didn't really explain why he was standing behind the bar with a bag of frozen peas applied to the side of his face.

"Where did we even get frozen peas?" he demanded of Tino. He was fairly sure Kitty wouldn't have ordered them. "And why? It's not like any of us who work here are actually going to eat them." A beat. "Also WHY DID YOU HIT ME?"

Cade was back at his job, only ten minutes late to it (because Cade was a lot of things, but punctual...not really one of them), and already missing the warmer weather.

Not the "wandering around in the wilderness and almost getting eaten" part, but the weather, definitely.

He picked up his phone and was trying to get good prices for the, erm, souvenirs, he'd "acquired" while on vacation.

Stark Industries was open, and Cade was eager to help you with all of your legal transactions--right after he finished with some that were slightly less so.
