Today, a new, especially clingy kitten arrived at the shelter. When April attempted to put her down with some other cats her age, the cat whimpered pathetically.

April gave the cat a look. It was generally successful. But the kitten was having none of it.

After a brief staredown, April eventually relented and allowed the cat to sit on her lap at her desk while she read a book.

Damn cats.

There was still a NOW HIRING sign on the door, and April might even allow you to make your case for a job if you attempted to apply. Depending on what the kitty thought of you, of course.

People were crazy, crazy, crazy wrong. Like, not-even-watching-the-show levels of wrong.And he was going to type his fingers raw trying to prove this.

For some odd reason, Derek was feeling like he should be more down that usual at work today. It could have been the weather. Or maybe thinking about his family thanks to Jack.

Or maybe it was DJ playing only sad music.

He was going to to murder that DJ one of these days. He really was.

Caritas-Wednesday

Jaye had spent a week at home, starting with her grandfather's funeral, leading to reuniting her great-aunt with her high school sweetheart, and ending with her parents' insistence that they get some "Jaye time." Which, honestly, she didn't really mind that her family wanted to spend time with her, it was just that it never really worked out in her favor when they did.

So Jaye was at work, totally on time, really, and having a beer behind the bar. And just you try and stop her. This was earned, god dammit.
