Dani wasn't sure what possessed her to get on a bus and head out of town last week. But she was back today, looking relaxed and well-rested. She had a nice time checking out thoroughbred sales in Kentucky, sipping on mint juleps and chatting with breeders and trainers. But it made her realize how much she missed the competitive business of horse racing. So once her chores were done, she retreated to the office and started filling out the paperwork to get her ban from horse racing revoked.

The Gig was open, and Dani was willing to trade free horse rides for letters of recommendation.

April probably could have come up with a cute list of drink specials for today rather than sitting boredly behind the bar, eating vegetarian chicken nuggets and texting her boyfriends, but no. The vegetarian chicken nuggets were delicious and the texting was mildly entertaining, while doing her job as a bartender was only ever boring. So she was sticking with what she liked.

Apparently there was some trouble in paradise between Ben and Derek, and a story that involved bubble bath, Wamapoke artifacts and pink handcuffs, and as their girlfriend, April had to be kept informed.

The Arms Hotel, Saturday

Nikolai was actually in a pretty decent mood, today. After some time negotiating with his boss in L.A. he'd managed to pull enough strings to have one of his contacts who was actually in Baltimore this weekend go to check out the lost-and-found, to see if they could get their hands on his luggage and, thank fuck, his wallet. By some miracle, both were still there, and since nobody could exactly connect him to the sudden, brief rash of people passing out around customs, they were there for the taking. He'd met the man out on the other side of the Causeway, collected his things, and was now spending his Saturday going through his suitcase right there at the check-in counter, marveling over the sight of his favorite jeans, old socks, even a can of shaving cream he didn't particularly care about.

He'd been living paycheck-to-paycheck on a part-time job with absolutely nothing to his name since arriving on the island. Could anyone blame him for being thrilled over a little recovered luggage and all of his credit cards, today?

The Perk, Saturday Morning

Unsurprisingly, Jackson didn't have a hangover. He was never going to have a hangover again. Or be drunk. Last night had conclusively proven that.

But he still felt better about himself today. Even if he wouldn't have admitted to having felt even a little bad about himself yesterday. Some classes hit close to home but he preferred to pretend they didn't, because he was untouchable. And he really did feel fine today. Everything was cool again. But he still gave the barista a hard time about getting his coffee just right. Hey, he didn't want his day ruined by a shoddy cup of coffee!

The barista heaved a sigh of relief once Jackson finally settled down to drink his coffee by the window, texting Danny and people-watching.
