It was Saturday again - they seemed to come pretty regularly here - so Cecil was dutifully at the antique shop. The till was taken care of, the boxes were unpacked, and the sunken heads (which hadn't been selling very well) were in a festive display on a table near the front of the store.

Cecil planned on making a sign for them just as soon as he could move his fingers. Presently they (his fingers, not the heads) were swathed in two layers of gloves and tucked under his armpits, which were covered in an undershirt, a shirt, a sweater, and a coat. His scarf was tucked tight around his neck.

Yes, the heat was on. It just hadn't warmed the place up much yet.

Foucault was curled tight inside his pet bed looking like a large, pinkish grey fluffball. Cecil was considering joining him.

Some woman in a weird military uniform came and dropped off some language translator unit to be fixed early this morning, and Topher spent the next couple of hours fixing it. Then afterwards, he set it to translate some other, fun languages too, like some of the fake alien ones from Galaxy Quest and Inspector Spacetime. It was doubtful that the customer was ever going to need them translated, but yeah, he was doing it anyway.

A chance outing into Baltimore last week had given April an idea about how to spend her next bar shift, and that turned out to be tonight. Her plan was simple: goad Tino into attempting to punch her in the arm or something, just so she could have the true joy of watching him get zapped out of the bar.

Then she had an even better idea to supplement the first one. She borrowed a sharpie from Tino and quickly made a sign.

SMACK TINO SOMEONE IN THE ARM AND DRINK FOR FREE

Look, if they didn't know the consequences of violence in Caritas, that was on them.
