Seifer had, quite frankly, had a shitty night. The exercises Sam had suggested worked, but it still didn't stop him from waking up several times, fighting to focus and remember where he was. It seemed like the more relaxed he got here in Fandom, the more his brain decided to throw shit at him. While he hadn't been at the crash site, he had read the reports and heard what the witnesses said in court, so basically his brain was forcing him to watch what he had pieced together. Over, and over, and he was never able to save Astrid.

Add in old nightmares that he hadn't had in years, and old insecurities creeping in, and it made for a shitty sleep cycle. So he was drinking coffee like it was coming from the faucet, and trying not to be too much of a grouchy jerk to the customers and any potential employees who stopped by.

Look at that, he was out of the house twice this week. He was very proud of himself. He wasn't doing much in the way of work. Actually he wasn't doing any work. But he was there and that was what mattered, right? Right.

[OCD-free! 'Cause I couldn't find gifs I like for the OOC thread. Yep.]

"Some people'll tell you the secret to a great sandwich is in the layering," Eliot said, as he carefully lay ultra thin slices of turkey out on a bed of green and red lettuce and homemade mustard. "That's how you make it pretty, but pretty don't mean crap if the flavors aren't in balance."

"Check it out," the dishwasher whispered to the busboy as they stood in a semi-circle with the rest of the kitchen staff behind Eliot. "Zen and the art of sandwich making."

"Shhh!" hissed the entire rest of the staff. Eliot smirked a little and held out his hand, palm up.

"Onions," he called, and the cook handed over a spoon laden with freshly grilled onions. Eliot examined them before spreading them on top of the turkey.

"Not bad," he said. "You're getting cleaner with the slicing."

The cook beamed.

Mike's birthday last Saturday had been pretty good. It'd given him a great reason to flee the island after the graduation ceremony. He'd even managed to find someone he'd hit it off with – enough that he hadn't even gotten back until Monday.

Of course, he'd been all about work since then, but still! It had been a good birthday weekend. He was still happy about that.
