It was the start of a brand new week which meant Hatter was in and sitting near his tea counter. There was the smell of something good coming from the kitchen. Apparently, someone back there was getting all gourmet and Hatter had to say he approved. He'd be partaking of whatever that was when it was done. For now, he was relaxing and contemplating a possible trip to Wonderland. The Looking Glass was still intact and he had to admit he missed the place but he just had to make sure it was safe.

Another Monday, another day for Jack to spend behind the bar at Devil's Nest. Life on the island was starting to get entirely too routine for him, and again he began to toy with the idea of moving somewhere else for law school. (But then you'd have to leave your pack, a voice at the back of his head whispered, and that thought made him nervous.)

A few hours into his work day, he put the big questions aside in favor of a small one, namely: Why was there a $3,000 charge to Staples on the bar'scredit card bill, and what had it even been used to buy? He got a partial answer when the UPS carrier arrived with an enormous box full of paper clips.

Now the only problem was figuring out what to do with hundreds of thousands of paper clips. Jack considered adding them to the bar decor.

The bushel of apples Eliot had picked up last week had somehow multiplied in the stock room into something like 30 bushels. Which was bad enough, but the stockroom, unlike the freezer, didn't exist in its own pocket dimension, and didn't actually have room for 30 bushels of apples to fit nicely, leading to Eliot catching an avalanche of apples when he opened the door to take inventory.

The invectives and threats that came out of his mouth were thorough, creative, and rather extraordinarily violent. In a show of either incredible bravery or incredible stupidity, the cook walked over to look at where he was sprawled amongst the rolling fruit anyway.

"Yeah," the cook said, offering Eliot a hand up. "This place does that sometimes."

"There is something wrong with this island!"
