It felt like it'd been much longer than it had since Hatter had been in his shop. So, he'd come in with a gusto, arms spread wide and smile on his face.

"Did you all miss me?"

The staff gave him a look and then nodded quietly. "Oh, you lot are so boring." He went over to his seat and flopped down, feet up and hands behind his hat. "Well, I missed you!"

The staff just went about their business.

Vacation had made Kitty just a little resentful of the cold, so after class she decided to hang out at the Perk for a little bit. She still had a book to finish from the cruise- which she could have read at home but she would be guaranteed to be distracted by having dogs to play with- and she could sit and read with a really large hot coffee.

And make the baristas jealous of her tan, la.

Eliot stared at the kitchen staff suspiciously from the lunch counter, where he and Val had taken over a corner to go over paperwork. (Well, Eliot was looking at paperwork. Val was being melodramatically miserable that no one was paying attention to her.) The kitchen staff occasionally looked up from doing their jobs, made eye contact, and smiled.

"Is something wrong?" the busboy asked innocently. Eliot scowled.

"You're all bein' normal."

"Um," said the busboy. "Yes?"

Eliot narrowed his eyes and stared suspiciously some more.

It was a brisk March morning when Leland Gaunt parked his Tucker Talisman and surveyed the island before him. Yes, this ought to work nicely. The air was crackling with energy. He could hardly wait to get started.

Something first: something essential. A promise. And so walked over to the small patch of ground nearest to his car, and dug into the ground with a silver spade.

In five short minutes he was done. He brushed his hands against one another and nodded. Good.

Now, to find that store of his.

(NFI, but broadcast is fine!)

Leland Gaunt found his store easily enough. Oh, it was positively charming. This was going to be a great deal of fun.

He began unpacking his items with care, setting some on pedestals with distinctive cards, and others on shelves full of bric-a-brac. He'd amassed quite the collection over the years.

One curious thing about the shop: there was not a single price tag to be found. He was at heart a merchant who loved to haggle. He could hope that here, he would find shoppers willing to make him reasonable offers.

They always wanted what he had to sell. Always.

The lights were dim, and most of the boxes were on the floor in various states of disarray, but after a moment's consideration, Leland Gaunt flipped the sign on the door to read "OPEN." The Grand Opening would come tomorrow, or perhaps the day after, when he had everything just right, but he never could resist the early birds. And perhaps he, too, was impatient.

(Store is open for anyone who wants to browse, or buy something non-cursed, or, hey, if you've already signed up, go ahead and get your cursed shiny! OCD incoming.)

It had been all too long since Jono had opened shop at the Groovy Tunes, at least if you asked him. There had been the pollen and its effects on the island battering at his head one week, and then the trip over the course of the last one, and while Jono considered the span of a few days a long time to be away from the music shop, two full weeks was bloody inexcusable.

There was a lot of new merchandise to go out, CDs and vinyl and a few instruments, and the stereo was actually cooperating and playing what he wanted it to, for once. Tonight was a classic punk sort of night, because Jono had spent entirely too much time in the 70s dodging disco, and never once did he get a chance to appreciate any Bad Religion or The Clash or Sex Pistols while he was there.

Ah, yes, that was much better.

Weeks where the island almost emptied out for school breaks had always bored Jack, but he'd barely noticed this last one. If anything, it had made for a nice break after the sheer hormonal overload that had been the week leading up to the trip. But it was over now, which he supposed meant he had to be prepared for actual customers.

He let Tiny handle as many of said customers as he could get away with, though. He still had five episodes left of the new season of Mansion of Games and not much else was getting done until he finished watching them.
