There had been a request from one of his students in class yesterday, did he know where she could get a guitar in town? And that had been fairly serendipitous, considering Jono happened to own the music store, and all.

Anyway, long story made short, Jonothon had offered to open the Groovy Tunes today so that Maria could look at the selection of instruments they carried over by the side wall. As he opened the shop, he kind of caught himself wondering if maybe the age of the CD was dead and gone and they should start just specializing in instruments and equipment with a selection of vinyl to feed his own addiction, but that was a short-lived thought. If a town this size, centered mostly around a high school, could support two bars, he could keep selling CDs in the age of the mp3, blast it.

The Groovy Tunes was open, and Jono was putting his Now Hiring sign out in the window on a whim while he was at it.

[OOC: OCD-free! Slowplay in a couple hours when I head off to the animation mines, but I'll be around in the evening, too.]

The post office wasn't full of turtles today, a fact for which Éponine was (mostly) profoundly grateful; it was extremely trying to maneuver around the place without tripping over them unless you had an unlimited store of patience.

Which she didn't.

No, it was just another one of those days where someone kept calling to inquire about various postal rates, and this time it was someone who wanted to know what all their options were for sending a letter via the fastest extradimensional method possible. This, for the record, was no less of a test of patience than the turtles had been.

"We've birds for that," Éponine told the caller, after twenty exasperating minutes of coaxing out all the details she needed to narrow down the available mailing options (there were only a limited number of dimensions included in the contract agreed upon by the elementals' union) and the weight and dimensions of the item being shipped. "Pigeons, of course, but if it's very urgent and not too heavy you might use a swallow --"

She was cut off there by yet another question that left her scowling at the opposite wall.

"How'm I supposed to know if it's a European swallow? It doesn't stick around long enough for me to ask."

Honestly, at least the turtles were less demanding.

For some reason the radio in the store was jacked up so that York couldn't turn it off and he couldn't tune it away from the 70's station. It wasn't even good 70's music, it was like disco and soft rock.

It was annoying. But it didn't stop him from singing along to Captain and Tennille. It was catchy, damn it.

When Kitty got in today, there was a flamingo at the bar where Tino usually stood. Poor guy probably showed up to work and transformed. But since Kitty had to work and he wasn't causing any trouble (he even helpfully handed her a dish towel with his beak once) she let him stay there.

And then Tino showed up, muttering something that might've been "sorry I'm late" though it was hard to tell with him.

Kitty looked at the flamingo, who looked back at her.

Anyway, now Tino had the night off and the helpful flamingo was behind the bar.

Mary and Gunther were having a healthy discussion about healthy eating. For her part, Mary was completely satisfied with her lunch of chopped veggies dipped in hummus. Gunther felt that Mary should still be hungry after such a small appetizer and couldn't understand why Mary didn't order a main course or dessert. Things really didn't get heated until Gunther sent out a plate of food to the front desk, only for it to get sent back. One did not send back uneaten food to Gunther and get away with it.
