There'd been a lot of sad things yesterday and a lot of tears and Alluka wasn't very good at thinking over the things that made her that upset.

Which meant that today, when she'd gotten up, she had borrowed Mabel's wagon for Waddles (with permission!) and stuffed as many of her toys into it as she could and then made the trek to work with them all. It had taken a while, since her toys liked to hop down from the wagon and explore the area (a lot of them had never been outside at all) but eventually she got herself, the wagon, and her pile of toys to Demon Marcus.

They wound up scattered all over the place--they were playing hide-and-seek with each other--while Alluka tried her best to remember all the right ways to open up the store.

Once that was done, she went and found a tiara and propped it on her head, and then went and joined the giggling game of hide-and-seek with her toys.

They never made her sad.

Jaina was still stuck in Fandom. No amount threatening, begging, yelling, bribing or more creative threatening had gotten her any closer to getting home. The one bright spot was that she could kind of make calls home, but after thirty seconds the connection would die. But as long as she wasn't completely cut off, there was hope.

Still, there wasn't anything she could do about it, so Jaina was taking it out on a dummy at the gym. Hopefully she wouldn't have to pay for the replacement?

Luke's, Monday

You wouldn't necessarily think that a business like a diner would be that influenced by the schedule of a high school. But on an island where the school dominated as much as it did on Fandom, the end of the school year still managed to coincide with a boatload of paperwork at Luke's.

They didn't even have any student employees graduating. And yet.

"The hell is this?" Eliot asked as he uncovered a hand written -- hand scrawled, really -- note at the bottom of a stack of kitchen receipts.

"A request for a promotion," the busboy said.

"To -- what does this say?"

"Busman!"

Eliot stared at him. The busboy got back to work.
