Thanks to the wind from across the causeway, all the books in the store seemed to be covered with a fine dust of candy particles. Alana didn't think that was going to be much of a problem until she held a a paperback copy of War and Peace for too long and had to practically scrape it off her hands.

After that, she wore gloves for the rest of her shift and made a new sign for the shop door:

BEWARE OF STICKY BOOKS.

With the chaos of alien attacks, prom and graduation behind her, Cosima felt lucky to have a relatively calm day at the repair shop. She used the time to scrutinize a sample of some candy she'd stolen from the field after graduation under a microscope.

It looked ... like candy. Like a thin slice of a Hershey's kiss, to be precise.

"Turns out candy is candy," she groused, and popped the rest of the chocolate into her mouth. At least collecting it hadn't been a total waste of time.
