Around Town, Friday Morning
Friday, May 20th, 2016 08:56 amBy Thursday night, the island had had enough. Not only was Nos Astra incredibly noisy and busy, but several asari had stopped by the causeway to inquire after the price of the island - which didn't spell anything good. So come early Friday morning, the causeway pulled away from Matriarch Towers. The island hummed for a moment in its bubble, deliberating...
... and picked something a little quieter.
There was a noise.
There was a flash.
And then there was a loud clang, as the island appeared in the middle of space, floating not far from the fragmented remains of a dead planet. The clang, mind you, was not the same as the noise or the flash. The clang was wholly its own animal, a creature wrought of iron and steel and poorly-maintained asphalt, clamping down on the wildly uninteresting site of a parking lot.
The clang lingered.
As did the causeway. And, for that matter, the parking lot.
Stretched out on the other side of the causeway was a magnificent starfish of a building, spiral arms leading towards an enormous golden dome in the center. It was probably noisier there, but for the moment, the island - and its bubble - were content.
