Today, there was a sale on lime green jelly beans.

Why?

Because that was all there'd been in the new shipments that had arrived during the night. No chocolates, no marshmallows, no nothing. Just jelly beans. Lime green. And they didn't even taste like lime! They tasted like –– it was a fruit, Bucky could tell you that much, but it wasn't lime. No sir.

He'd already been on hold for 45 minutes now, trying to get in touch with a representative at the company who shipped him these things so he could sort this out.

A HELP WANTED sign hung in the window, and not just because of the jelly bean situation.

Probably.

There were two major differences from last week. One, Mary was sitting with at the front desk with a bemused expression on her face. Two, she was surrounded by jars of chocolate hazelnut spread. There were lined up along the end of the counter and piled up one on top of the other next to the guest register. She even found a few jars tucked into the desk drawers. Mary sighed and called Gunther over. "Thank you very much for stocking up on the chocolate," she said, "but would it help if I mapped out my cycle for you so you're ready the next time I have PMS cravings? Because this is all about a week too late."

Gunther turned bright red and fled without saying a word.

The kitchen staff were all very excited about something and singing at each other about the revolutionary war and slavery at the tops of their lungs. Eliot was less than impressed.

"There even a single word in this thing you're doin' about the native population siding with the British because they were slightly nicer to 'em?" he asked.

The singing paused while the staff looked at each other.

"Why should a tiny island across the sea regulate the price of tea?!" the busboy demanded, and they all launched into song anew.

Eliot rolled his eyes and sighed. He'd probably be less grumpy about the whole thing if the cook didn't keep dramatically dropping his kitchen utensils like they were microphones.

It was a nice day. Dani had stripped down to just her riding breeches and a tank top. She sat outside on a hay bale as she polished her brand-new riding boots. And if she had positioned herself so that she could keep an eye on the boys of the Fandom Fire House as checked their hoses, it was just a coincidence.

The Gig was open, and there were plenty of extra hay bales if someone wanted to join her.
