"No," Éponine was saying to the customer on the other end of the line, "I don't think you can return those only because you keep losing at solitaire with them, it's silly, it's hardly the cards' fault, now, is it? And why are you asking me about it, anyhow? D'you think I care why you're sending a parcel back, so long's you pay for it properly, and it hasn't got anything live with tentacles that come bursting out through the wrapper and go squirming all about the place? Good lord! It took days to get the place cleaned up proper after that happened before."

Because of course it had happened before, was what her tone of voice seemed to imply, and her wordless snort of disgust seemed to imply that there had been slime involved as well.

". . . no, you aren't supposed to send those through the post at all in the first place, it isn't allowed. Look here, if you've absolutely got to, you don't tell me about it!"

She was shaking her head when she hung up the phone. Why did people call about some of the silliest questions?

Jessica was in research mode today. She generally wore a jacket into battle, but it was long past time to improve that part of her gear. She didn't need much, just some kind of very lightweight armor that would give a layer of good protection without weighing her down.

And that meant first researching whatever kind of flexible armor Tony already had patents on so she could build on that.

It wasn't surprising that he had so many patents on this kind of stuff, but it was a little overwhelming, even with JARVIS's help.

In between work- and ignoring Tino, natch- Kitty was trying to come up with a solid class plan for the coming semester.

One day Kitty might wonder if it was weird to lesson plan in a bar. That day would not be today.
