Fandom Post Office, September 6 (Tuesday)

So this morning Éponine had opened the post office, per usual, and gone about her usual morning routine of tidying up the lobby and making sure everything was properly stocked. Then she'd gone out to make a first round of deliveries, gotten caught in the . . . sudden downpour, and come back in with a large bag full of crumpets and cream horns.

What? You didn't let that sort of thing go to waste, and this was going to keep her from having to go out and get lunch later.

It was also probably going to keep her on a sugar high for the rest of the day, but that was fine, really.

Around the Island, 11:00 AM to 11:11 AM

It happened when the clock struck eleven.

Clouds packed above the island, their linings gleaming with icing. They unleashed a torrent of tea, crumpets, and cream horns onto the poor unsuspecting island below. (The tea wasn't hot, but the cream could make it hard to see further than a few inches.) This veritable onslaught of elevenses continued for eleven straight minutes.

And then, just as mysteriously as the clouds had appeared, they faded.

Happy eleventh, current iteration of Fandom Island. It would have provided a celebration yesterday, but truly, one does not mess with Labor Day.

"JARVIS, are you absolutely sure you can't fix the A/C in here yourself?" Jessica asked. The place had been sweltering for the past hour. And while she would normally just deal with it, she was finishing some work on her jacket and really needed to wear it.

"I'm sorry. It is a mechanical issue, so I'll need someone to lend a hand."

"I'll do it, but only because I appreciated that pun from an AI," Jessica said. "Also, because everything is terrible in here right now."

About fifteen minutes later, the air was fixed and Jessica was getting back to her actual work. "You're just lucky I work here. You couldn't afford my rates these days."
