"Nana...Nana, it's January," Hardison protested. Half-heartedly, really. He knew when his foster mother could be talked around and when she could not. This was definitely one of the latter situations. "Your chest hurts in the cold, remember?"

"I marched on Washington once, Alec." Nana's voice was crisp over the speakerphone, brooking absolutely no nonsense. "And I'm fixin' to do it again. And the first time was back when I had a lot more to worry about than just the cold." Celeste Tafiya had been a freedom rider in her youth, had met her husband when they'd been arrested together in Birmingham, and while she'd never actually met Congressman Lewis, she hadn't taken well to the comments the President Elect had made about him.

"Nana, I don't like the idea of you goin' alone--"

"Alone?" There was a sharp bark of a laugh. "Even if you're NOT countin' the twenty thousand people who are already gonna be there, I'm bringin' a whole group from church. We got us a huge chunk of the congregation, includin' most of the younger generation. Folks came home from school from this, even little Taneisha Porter, who is up at Harvard an' studyin' to be a lawyer. Her aunts are tickled pink when they talk about her. We had to charter a bus! And you'd better believe I'm sittin' in the front of it!"

Hardison sighed, rubbing his forehead. "But Nana--"

"Bo 'buts,' Alec. I'm a woman grown an' I make my own choices. You notice I don't go interferin' in what YOU do, dontcha?" Faintly, Hardison heard a honking noise. "No time to keep jawin' with you. That's the bus, I gotta go. Give my love to Parker an' Eliot an' I'll talk to you sometime this weekend. Sooner if I get arrested! Bye now!" And before he could get another word in, she'd hung up the phone.

Groaning, Hardison looked up--only to be confronted by the busboy, the cook, and the dishwasher, all staring at him with hearts in their eyes. "What?" he asked.

"Was that Nana?" the busboy asked. "She is so cool. Do you think Eliot will give us tomorrow off so we can go march with her?"

Hardison just groaned and buried his face in his hands.

Jono's brain felt a little bit like it was leaking out of his ears, today. Having Nanika at the house where he could keep an eye on her to make sure she was... well... as okay as an eldritch entity stuck in bluescreen mode could possibly be... meant that his telepathic senses were basically screaming at him at all times. Yes, he could put up psionic walls to try to keep the worst of it out, but that meant cutting himself off from everything, the way he used to when he was still a stupid kid afraid of his own powers.

That, and he'd never be able to leave the house. He'd just be stuck on 'staring at Nanika' duty until she snapped out of this. Which, so far as he was aware, could be for the rest of time.

So here he was at the Boards, with a head that was screaming 'no no no wrong bad bad bad bad' at him constantly at all times, but at least he could still keep tabs on her from here. If there was any change he'd be able to drop everything and take off running. To what end, he still wasn't sure, but... running.

In the meantime, he had a sign up advertising that showcase thing that he was trying to organize. People were welcome to, like, come in and try out for that, or just throw a party on the stage or whatever the hell they wanted to do, today.

And if anybody needed him in particular, he was going to find a nice, blank patch of wall to stare at for a bit.

A handful of packages were chasing each other around in circles in the backroom, barking.

Tip wasn't going to ask.

The unthinkable had happened:

Xanthippe was being told the funds she had with her weren't enough to pay for the extra special coffee order she'd just made. Look, she'd forgotten her cards at the dorms but like, the change she'd somehow managed to scrounge up from the pockets of her fashionably careless flannel had to be enough to pay for it, right?

Apparently not. The barista shook his head.

So, Xanthippe, being the cool and reasonable person that she was --

"Double you tee eff, you can't do this to me!"

Yeah, yelling and looking like this was a personal slight against her was surely the way to solve this.

[ooc: Xan is here primarily to run into someone in probable SP, but the post is open for all your Perk needs!]
