At least the tinsel wasn't moving and it didn't try to make you kiss people. Breq had made the mistake of cutting some of it down, and now she had some of it stuck in her hair. 

That wasn't as bad as it was for the Silence. It was completely rolled up in tinsel and looked quite displeased about the situation. Then there were little blue men who seemed to appreciate what was going on, or so Breq assumed since they were walking in a line, wearing white dresses and candles on their heads. It looked like they were singing, but the Silence was upset so it was hard to tell. Breq accepted the biscuits they offered her and assumed this was some kind of traditional thing.

She decided this was a good day for reading books about music.

The Beach, Wednesday Evening

It was a nice night, if you asked Zack. The weather was crisp and cool with just a hint of snow, which didn't bother him any. He'd wandered bare-armed through Modeo, after all. This was just... brisk. And sparkly. He wans't sure if the tinsel washing ashore was meant to be here, but in the evening light, it was, if nothing else, pretty.

He turned a little grin toward Ino.

"After this we can go for hot chocolate," he promised. "My treat."
