"People get flowers for the New Year?"

Nathan had been looking forward to just spending a quiet day in the flower shop, cleaning up pine needle shrapnel and taking down Christmas decorations. He really, really had. And for the first hour or so of his shift, that had even been the case. But eventually, the calls came in asking for centerpiece arrangements.

Because people would use any possible opportunity to buy flowers, apparently.

Nathan sighed and started looking for any flowers that looked 'like fireworks.' They were going to burn through the alliums and asters this week, weren't they? Apparently so.

Furnado Animal Shelter, Tuesday

Another gift-giving holiday had come and gone, and Zack was low-key paranoid as he stepped into the animal shelter that they were going to be beset by another influx of unwanted animals. Apparently the vet on staff that day had similar concerns, so at least they weren't entirely unfounded. After all, they still had chickens from Easter earlier in the year, and a couple of black cats had come back to them after Halloween.

"So... what is it this time of year?" Zack asked. "I don't think we have room for reindeer..."

Zack still didn't entirely understand the holiday. The vet set him right before long, and the rest of the day was spent making sure there were a few free kennels and putting up signs reminding people that a pet was a commitment, and they weren't going to stay puppies and kittens forever.

Clothes Over Bros- Tuesday

Brooke wasn’t trying to deal with Christmas today. No, she was looking to the future, mostly by getting a good selection of new year’s attire in the store window (along with the now hiring sign). Because dammit, if you wanted to get someone’s attention on the #2 kissing holiday of the year, you came to Brooke Davis.

Seriously, though, she was trying to keep busy. Lucky for her, there was too much to do.

Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty was mostly taking of things at the Jean Grey School while things were going on, but she also had stuff to take care of here, and thank god. It was messed up when Fandom was where the normalcy was. But since the other school was on winter break, at least it gave her time to catch up.

So she was doing double duty at the bar, both serving and doing paperwork. Possibly sometimes at the same time.

Twas the day after Christmas, which... wasn't really that big of a deal for Mitsutada. Boxing Day didn't even hold any meaning for him, either. So he was more than happy to knuckle down and get to cooking. Since he was only vaguely aware of what boxing day was about, he decided to interpret the specials a little... loosely.

The stereo greeted Raven with a digital fanfare as she came into the shop for her shift today, then started what was apparently a retrospective about the top protest songs of 2017.

"Awww," Raven said. "Are you playing nice because you've turned over a new leaf, or is this just my Christmas present and then you'll go back to being weird and awful?"

The stereo, of course, didn't answer her. But Raven felt oddly loved by the (mostly?) inanimate object anyway.
