raspberryturk: (Up there omg)
[personal profile] raspberryturk
Rude was on a mission, running laps of some other person's Midgar with a pack of Rookies Reno had given up on ever seeing again a goddamn decade ago. Tseng was... frustrated? Frustrated was a good word for it, anyway. Tseng was frustrated with Reno.

But then, who the hell wasn't frustrated with Reno? If Reno wasn't being frustrating, something was probably the matter.

What it boiled down to, really, was that Reno had come across some amount of downtime, and had opted for a change in scenery. A trip to the island, a day or two spent appreciating the sun for a change. The end of the world had spoiled him in that regard, giving him back sunshine even if it had taken away his home. So he'd headed to the Perk, got himself a coffee, and parked his ass by the window. Not even people-watching. Just... watching.

It was still weird, coming back here from time to time. But at least the coffee wasn't shitty.

arboreal_priestess: Yvonne Strahovski as Verity Alice Price (Totes As Dumb As You Think I Am)

Verity came in early to interview new DJs today. There was a really high turnover rate for some reason that she wasn't looking too closely at.

"So, like, what called you to being a DJ?" she asked, blinking big, guileless eyes at the current applicant while Tiny snickered behind the bar. "Like, I totally see it as being a calling, don't you?"

She was deliberately sounding as vapid and inane as possible. The ones who couldn't see through that were dismissed before they even got to play their prepared setlist.

It would figure something good would actually happen on the day Rosa was stuck with desk duty.

After a lot of chittering and indecipherable calls, she got one that actually seemed to be from a human (her guess was the lady with the funny eye) that explained what all the fuss was about.

"Are you serious?" she asked incredulously into the phone. "They're on fire?"

Yup. Someone had set flame to the three billboards outside of the preserve. They had been put out quickly and effectively before they could cause any real damage to anything important, but apparently all that remained of them were a few charred frames and the very clear fact that it had been arson.

Man, Rosa loved arson.

But she also loved being employed. Not here, but in general, so she'd stick by her desk duty day and sent the troopers out to have a good look for evidence. And while they were at it, canvas as many people as possible, because that was something she was glad she had desk duty for.

"But you can bet I'm going over it again tomorrow," she told them, "and if I find anything you bucketheads missed, you're taking my desk duty on the next arson, got it?"

Next arson. She could only be so lucky.
