The electricity was back! That was good new.

...but the electricity was back. That was also bad news.

Because it was just in time for Rosa's desk shift and there was more than enough stuff for her to do with the weather and the black out and this place just being freaking weird as hell.

Thankfully, she needed the coffee more than her desire to just drench any work she didn't want to do it. No, the real trouble today was when Rosa caught what looked like moving reflection of something in the computer monitor when the light hit it a certain way.

"Ugh," she always said whenever she noticed it and watched it for more than five seconds, "curling is so dumb."

And Calvin had to hold Ralph back every time she said fighting words like that, too.

Luke's, Monday

Eliot was the kind of guy who would -- and had -- climb a mountain in Alaska if a job required it. He wasn't going to let a little thing like a few feet of snow and a weekend without power keep him from opening his diner. Besides, Val could use the exercise. It was hard for a dog to feel satisfied with running forms in the basement dojo for a couple days, after all. And there was only so much flopping into snow drifts in the backyard that a girl could take.

So Eliot and Val were at Luke's today, even if every other member of the staff had called out because of the snow.

Honestly, it was kind of glorious. Eliot could tuck in and make whatever the hell he wanted without worrying about any antics. Not that he'd say that out loud. That'd just be asking the island to turn him into a wolverine while the stove was on, and get the whole place burned down.

Was Eliot overdoing it? Oh, most definitely. He was going to end up eating a whole lot of ramen by himself tonight. Did he care?

The park, Monday

The power was back on and the house was warm again. So of course Miguel was outside in the snow.

What? The little pictures on the window had shown playing in the snow and building snowmen, and that sounded like fun, and nothing Miguel had done much of growing up. (They had also shown a snowball fight, but you needed more than one person for that.)

So he was out here in a jacket, jeans, and a nice, warm hat over his UMF outfit. It kept out the cold much better than it had any right to, and he could still move his fingers properly.

Now, did he want to go for the stupid ball-shaped snowperson, or try something more interesting and less structurally sound? Hm...

The Devil's Nest, Monday Evening

The power was on again! Verity had gone back to her apartment that morning, dropping the mice back off at their Barbie dream house and luxuriating under a long, hot shower. And taking a nap in her own bed. Which was a real bed and not a chair, LIAM.

And then it was time for her to get dressed and head to work. Yeah, odds were low anyone would show up, but who knew? Maybe people were going a little stir-crazy. Which was why Tino was sent out to shovel snow (that and to stop him from getting distracted by the frost paintings on the windows) off the walk.

What was Verity doing? Setting traps, of course. It was almost Easter and if the Easter Bunny thought he was getting anywhere near this establishment, it had another thing coming.
