Ino had cheerfully booted Sparkle out of her shop today, though it was his usual shift, since with the scavenger hunt going on, he had to deal with his own shop.

(Though it would've been funny to see him try to manage to run both shops, in retrospect.)

Today, given what was going on, she wasn't working in the back room or really doing much at all, except making sure her selection of facial masks were all ready to go.

And checking that her phone was charged. Yes, yes she was totally going to take pictures. Why wouldn't she?

Dark Nation curled up with the dust bunnies? Check.

Papier mache supplies and written off books? Check.

Rufus was almost sorry he couldn't go around to see what all the other stores were doing today, but on the other hand… he got to abstain with a good reason from having to do anything ridiculous this week.

And, he supposed, between anyone who stopped in, and radio tomorrow, he'd have a decent idea of what had gone on anyway.

"Now that's a lot of cans!"

The resourcefulness of their back stock room never failed to impress Amaya, and, after getting to the shop early to help Apu pull out the pallets and pallets of canned goods, she brushed off her hands and looked over it with a weird sense of pride and excitement. Should be interesting seeing what the kids come up with for their scavenger hunt!

Though she still wished she could have made the challenge to get the SquishyBot to put out something other than Red, but if she couldn't fix that...she didn't think she could handle her damaged pride if a kid managed to pull it off.

"Make sure to keep that mop ready to go, too, Apu," she said. "I have a feeling we'll be spoiling out a lot of dented cans."

Ordinarily Éponine would be spending most of Wednesday running deliveries and doing things that didn't require her to stay behind the counter for the majority of her shift, but with the scavenger hunt going on -- and she still wasn't sure what exactly had possessed her to agree to participate in it -- she thought it might be best to hang about and keep an eye on things.

Which, admittedly, meant she was doing a fair bit of reading, but. Well. What with the ladybugs that had apparently taken up residence in one of the mailboxes, it ought to be entertaining.

Okay, so there was some sort of scavenger hunt thingy going on for the school today, which meant that Zack felt kind of obligated to be there, personally, to open shop today.

There, personally, with a playpen full of puppies for anybody, student or not, to step into for important puppy therapy purposes.

Try to resist the puppies. Go on. Try.

Groovy Tunes, Wednesday

With Breq having worked Saturday and Jono still faintly on the anxious side, he was actually kind of happy to have an excuse to come into the music shop today. There was even a shipment of new CDs, which meant he'd have plenty to do between potential scavenger hunters.

Jono certainly couldn't complain about that.

Okay, so usually Sparkle would be over at Ino's shop, tending things over there. But for today they'd swapped off, in preparation for the school event. Which was probably for the best. Sparkle's plants needed watering, and he needed to tidy up a little before students started to arrive and ransack the place or something.

So, here Sparkle was. Tidying.

Ignore the tears in his clothing. There had been raptors today. Apparently Portalocity still hated him.

Hannibal was nothing if not...well, no, he was quite a few things if not a fan of warped humor, but nevertheless.

So, he was set up for prospective "patients", with tea and coffee, and doing paperwork/playing online chess in the meantime.

His office was open!

Covent Garden Flowers, Wednesday

Peter was usually here anyway, but he didn't mind helping out the school, either. So in addition to the usual flowers, plants, and herbs, there were also a number of empty vases sitting next to the cut flowers, waiting for...whatever the students planned on doing.

Peter also had some cinnamon tea and Oreos if anybody wanted any. (If they didn't quite go together, how was he supposed to know? He'd never eaten an Oreo.)

The flower shop was open!

The C.I.C. - Wednesday, 9am-Midnight

Kaidan arrived at work to find a note tucked in the door. Scanning it quickly, he chuckled. A scavenger hunt, huh? Well, hey, anything that'd bring business in.

He set up the computers in all of the suites to run one game and one game only: A text-based game of The Oregon Trail.

That seemed like a good, wholesome, educational game for kids to play.

He set a sign on the door: "Attention Scavenge Hunters: Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to successfully play the game 'The Oregon Trail' through to completion. You may try as many times as you need to. Happy hunting."

After a long moment of thought, he wrote up another sign and put it in the window: "Help Wanted - Inquire within."

Dite's Decadent Delights, Wednesday

Out of respect for the shier students, Kathy had made a pyramid of books right on the counter, so they could be seen from the doorway and no one actually had to look around and see more than they might be comfortable with. A beeline, back and forth, where they could grab a book, run back outside, climb on Poppy, the eight foot tall metal rooster next to the door, and read their chosen passage aloud. She'd even left a basket there for the books, so no one had to make the trip twice--and a 'Free, Take One!' bucket of lollipops next to it, in case someone wanted a quick rush of sugar while running around.

Okay, the lollipops were shaped like boobs (and had condoms and dental dams taped to them, because safer sex was a thing, okay?) but this was an adult store. Kathy only had so much to work with and she wasn't going to run out to Wonka's for candy when she had some perfectly good--if inappropriately shaped--candy right in her own store.
