The woods had gone still. There was a silence there, on the outside, to match the shadows within. No branches shifted. No birds sang.

Just... silence.

Without, at least.

People were disappearing.

The woods had turned into a strange hybrid of bright green leaves and dark brambles made of shadows.

Clearly there was a connection there.

And while passing through the barrier itself seemed impossible, maybe there was a clue laying somewhere along the forest's edge...

Luke's Diner, Saturday

Luke's was open today, but Miguel had heard the radio, and was already searching for anything related he might be able to find about random dark woods, and working out what might be able to be done about it.

He did manage to make the coffee, but he left the staff to themselves after that.

He looked up later, saw the specials board, and shook his head. Apparently someone had wanted comfort food.
