Occam's Razor. The principle that the simplest answer tends to be the correct one. But what if the simplest answer was also the craziest?

Astrid was feeling a whiplash that sent her straight to the edge of that razor, balancing delicately like a walker on a tight rope. Funny how this place could do that to her. One minute, she was actually feeling good, positive, refueled, almost, thanks to her charitable roommate, her new decor, and finally managing to get a good night's sleep. Then all it took was a letter from her mother and a class about the People's Princess to send her into a whirlwind. Her Badass Women class had been so absurd to her in the moment that she could barely respond to it in the moment; of course she'd heard of Princess Diana, but when Ms. Davis launched into all this supposed history that hadn't happened yet, with such authority, it planted a seed in Astrid's brain and she oh so handwavily went to the library and started to look things up. It was on the Internet, it was in the newspapers, there were whole books on it, and as much as she'd convinced herself that this place seemed to pamper to everyone's delusions, there was no way it could conceivably go that far and have so many things go along with it. That was even more insane.

The simplest answer tends to be the correct one.

It made no sense to construct such elaborate lies, and looking up Princess Diana's death opened up a rabbit hole beneath Astrid's feet that sent her tumbling, tumbling, tumbling...

The simplest answer tends to be the correct one.

But what if the simplest answer seemed...impossible?

And yet, once she accepted it, everything else just...fell so neatly into place.

These were rather heavy and complex thoughts for a Tuesday afternoon, and Astrid didn't know if she could handle it. She had hoped she could distract herself at work, but there didn't seem much to do. If there was anything, or if the plants were acting strangely again, she didn't notice it. She'd taken on a new project, one that allowed her to step away from the uncontrollable vortex of her new reality and exhibit control over something else: she was going to take some flower pots (just the plain, boring terra cotta ones, nothing fancy), smash them on the ground, gather up all the pieces, and then super-glue them back together in new shapes and forms.

She's pay for the pots, of course. But she just needed to do something to cancel out the feeling of powerlessness and confusion.

So. Flower pot shard sculptures it was. Price negotiable.

"Uh, really."

Norman had come in for his shift, as usual, prepard for pretty much anything.

"Really?"

But sometimes, he just couldn't be prepared for the things this place had up its sleeve.

"Really!?"

It was going to take him all day to assess the water damaged stock after the tiny mouse in a wizard cap tried to make the mop clean the floor on its own.

"Why?"

The mouse didn't even work here! What possessed it to try to clean the floor??

"Okay," Zack said, settling in behind the counter at the shelter after all of his chores around the place were through, "who wants to meet my class on Thursday?"

Once again, he was met with a whole room of animals who were utterly ignoring him. Except, of course, for the usual contingent of dogs, who were mostly just excited to see him.

"Come on, guys. It can't be dogs every week."

Well, it could be. He didn't think his students would complain any. But it probably shouldn't be.

While Kitty was sort of ready for this whole pregnancy thing to be over already, there was also some panic setting in that there was t really that much time left, and way too much left to do, and dye dydbt feel ready for this at all.

So, whenever she had a free moment, she was using her phone to make to-do lists or googling stuff to make it feel like she had a handle on this, for the love of god please distract her.

"Hi, everybody." Peter waved his usual hello. "So today's a movie that was really important about thirty years ago. I don't think it's as much so anymore, but a lot of people still refer to it and grew up with it, so I thought it'd be a good candidate for this class. It mostly has to do with a lot of cultural things for kids the age of the students here, so maybe it'll help with that, too?"

He shrugged. "I guess we'll see, anyway. There's the usual snacks and drinks for anyone that wants them. Enjoy!"

Mitsutada had just gotten back to the island today after a long mission back to the Ikedaya Incident. He'd missed his class, and wasn't able to send anyone in his place, and he felt like he'd failed there a little... even though he had been fighting demons hellbent on altering history to destroy Japan in the future. So he felt a bit self conscious behind the counter today, ready to help those who came for food, conversation, or both.

Hopefully not at the same time. You chew with your mouth closed and don't try to talk with your mouth full, at least in Mitsutada's book.

After classes, Sabine went to the Perk mostly to work on some sketches and people watch through the window. This plan got derailed a bit when her first drink ended up with pumpkin spice in it. She nicely asked for another... and it also had pumpkin spice in it.

That time, she decided to see what would happen if she just ordered a pumpkin spice latte, and was given an iced coffee.

It wasn't what she ordered, and it was the wrong size, but she was counting it as a victory and she'd take it.

It was September! Fall! Leaves turning! Pumpkin and apple flavored things! Sweater weather!

Yeah, it was in the mid-90s out, so maybe not that last one. Still, Raven decided to let the change of seasons dictate her theme for the day.

Special today: Back to School!
Flight school, specifically! Learn to pilot a plane, shuttle craft,
jet fighter, zeppelin, hot air balloon,
you name it, we can probably at least approximate it!

The Holo-Scene was open.
