hernando_fuentesIt was once again a hot and humid day and the shop had decided iced tea was in order. Hernando patted the counter while he read the names on the cold tea dispensers.
Dave hopped from ground to chair to tabletop to counter in a series of impressive little sproings. Darting along the wood, he reached the first dispenser and pressed the lever with a paw until there was a small puddle of tea before he let go and began lapping it up.
Hernando pushed his glasses up so he could pinch the bridge of his nose. He knew that chastising Dave would only result in further performances so he waited until the quokka had hopped back down before spraying the counter with sanitizer and wiping up the remains of the puddle with a rag.
The sacrificial pastries were put out for display while the rest of them were left in the under-counter cooler to protect them from the weather.
Then he added some ice cubes to the quokka's water dish in an attempt to encourage them to drink that instead of the cold tea.
The sign rattled. Hernando wandered over to take it outside.

The island seemed quiet this week.
