"Hate fireball," Sparkle was muttering as he opened the front door to the clothing shop. "Fuck whiskey," he added as he slipped behind the counter and decided to just rest his face on the top of it for the remainder of the day.

He'd be there to help people if they needed, but in the meantime, hangover fun! Yaaay!

[OOC: Open for the slooowest of SP, since I'm DMing a family one-shot today, pray for me.]

Some days you just needed to come in to work, settle behind the counter, pull out a guitar, and play.

That would be Jonothon today, working on writing a song that would likely never be heard outside of this shop anyway.

... Though he was occasionally casting a speculative look back toward the old theatre, contemplating that stage. Maybe...

Nah.

Kanan's dog was with him at work again today. He'd tried to leave Stance at home, but after yesterday, when half the island's population had been rodents of some sort, Stance had been having none of it. He wanted to go outside! Wanted to see more groundhogs!

Kanan had finally capitulated with a sigh, not wanting to leave a crying dog at home all day, and had brought Stance along with a, "You'll be disappointed, buddy."

Which was only sort of true, since the moment they came through the door, the entire staff dropped everything they were doing to shower Stance with affection and treats. Either way, the pup still totally came out on top.

Welcome to Luke's!

So far, keeping an eye on things at the shelter for Zack hadn't been too bad. In fact, Summer had actually be enjoying the responsibility of it, spending time with the animals, having a little something extra to do around the island. But, then again, it had all been fairly easy, too. The vet was pretty competitent and capable, the other employees were hard-working, and besides a few supplies for the people around the island with pets, the business was pretty slow-paced without any big problems.

Which was...suspicious, if you really thought about it, but Summer wasn't going to look a gift horse (or pygmy goat, she supposed) in the mouth, and was just going to count her blessings that she hadn't had to deal with any customer complaints.

Until now.

"So," she said into the phone, barely holding back a sigh, "you're calling because your pet was a groundhog yesterday and this morning, you wake up to find that your pet is still a groundhog?"

Summer paused to listen to the customer going off on another tirade of an explanation that pretty much repeated exactly what she'd already been told, in nearly precisely the same words, too. And Summer sighed and braced herself for what might follow as she asked her next question.

"...are you sure it just wasn't a groundhog the whole time you've had it?"

A very long and telling silence followed on the other end.

"That's what I thought," she said. "You have a great day, ma'am."

Furnado is open!

Was Beau hung over this morning when she came in to work? Yes. Was this a surprise? Probably not.

It was just too bad for her, then, wasn't it, that she came in to find that a lot of the weights had fallen off the rack for some reason during the night and she was going to have to put them all back?

"Owwwwwwwww," she muttered for about the thousandth time, wincing, when the loud scraping clang of metal on metal sent another jolt of pain through her head. If anybody needed her, she might be behind the desk with her head down, or squinting her way through the parkour course later on in the afternoon.

One way or another, she was going to have a long day ahead of her.

But no, she wasn't going to consider this an object lesson in any way.
