Welp. Back to the old grind. Summer was pleased to find out that, while she was gone, none of the animals had died and that Turtle & Canary hadn't blown up, but Pancakes had quite a lot to say about her thoughts on Summer deciding to just pop off for a week without her and leaving her at the shelter with the vet.

"Oh, yeah?" Summer had countered, lifting her brows and looking terribly unimpressed. "Is that so? It was really that terrible having to spend a week in the same place you spent months living before I adopted you? Wow. I don't know how you managed to even survive."

But survive she had, and then she'd gone and insisted on returning with Summer that Sunday to the very place she'd been complaining about, if only just to make sure that Summer wasn't gearing up to go traipse off and leave for a whole week again.

Any work Summer would be doing that day, then, would be done from the counter, as she had a very persistent cat, purring away and kneading her lap and restaking her claim all over again.

"What have I gotten myself into?" Summer murmured, but fondly, as she shook her head and scratched Pancakes'.

Even if the weather hadn't been relatively nice (especially after a week in Iceland!), Prompto would still feel that he owed it to Girl to take her out for a good run, to make up for sticking her in the shelter while he was gone. His legs didn't exactly agree with this theory (there had been sooo. much. hiking!), but whatever, she was totally worth it! And it was good to get back to his usual routine, the usual jogging path, back to things as normal.

And since it was fairly nice and Prompto really didn't have anything else to do and he really, really wanted to make it up to her, they swung around the park afterwards so that they could get going on a good rousing game of fetch, with the occasional encouragement for Girl to show off just how well and how high she could catch and jump, and chilling out on a bench in between bursts to catch their breath and maybe sort through the gazillion photos he'd snagged on the trip that he hadn't even gotten around to touching yet.

The task of going through and picking out the best ones and delete a handful or few was seriously a daunting one, dudes!

[[ the last hour of work on a slow day is the absolute worst! Open for all your park-related neeeds! ]]
