Trooper Station; Monday [11/25].
Monday, November 25th, 2019 08:15 amAlmost as soon as Rosa and Anna Pavlova walked through the door of the station, the dog took its first leap for an eagerly bounding run to go find the station cat, but Rosa was quick to stop her. She was expecting the pup to retreat into her old habits, and had brought her today to mostly see if the whole Russian thing was legit or just a fluke, a lingering aftermath of the weekend.
"Ah," she said, in a warning tone, just as the cat started to rear back at the dog's approach, but the dog did stop. "Anna. Stoy. Bud' milym."
And Anna Pavlova dropped dutifully to her belly, made only a small, playful sort of bite at the air in front of the cat (the cat lightly batted at Anna's muzzle with a paw), and then she rolled over, and the cat seemed to decided that yes, this was acceptable. Good job, passing an almost bored looking glance over at Rosa.
Who just sort of narrowed her eyes and shook her head at the cat, sarcastically and nonverbally thanking him for his blessing before getting settled behind her desk and getting to work and feeling incredibly glad it had turned out to be a quiet weekend after all.
She did notice, though, as the day went on, that it seemed like Ralph and Calvin both were trying to avoid her. She didn't know what that was all about, but she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth and start questioning it. If only they could be like that every Monday.
