Things had been pretty busy for Astrid this week...at least at her jobs...which was good, especially after a week like last week and especially now that Sabine (and also Eleanor) were gone. She liked to stay busy during weeks like this, to take her mind off of things like startlingly empty rooms and a distinct lack of phone calls from hot shot lawyers in California. So she had Mother's Day at the flower shop...and New Semester Prep at the T&C.

Some of it was stocking and helping Apu with some displays of essentials and things like that, but most of Astrid's tasks involved a long list that Summer had put together of some signs she wanted to go up over the weekend and through the next week, which she was more than happy to work on between customers. And, occasionally, she'd pause long enough to show Apu her progress on a certain sign, because maybe she enjoyed the fact that he was forced to begrudgingly accept that they were very good signs.

It was, after all, the little things in life...

You know...it had started out as what was supposed to be just a simple project for the day, rearranging the weapons wall, maybe updating the lighting on it to really make it shine when people came into the forge, in anticipation of maybe getting some more old-fashioned weapons types in with the new batch of students. Really set the thing up to highlight all her best and most eye-catching pieces: the giant axe, the giant shuriken, the giant sword...

...okay, so mostly the giant things, but she could throw in a few short swords and fancy daggers, too!

Either way, the vision of the new layout distracted her enough to not realize, until the weapons wall was blank and everything that had been hanging on it was spread out around her that she...she...

...she had a lot of weapons on that wall.

Amaya was kind of left wondering how they'd even all fit!

So the task of culling some and picking out the best ones turned out to be quite the event, especially since her first trial run pretty much lead to her not culling any of them, and putting them all up again because it was hard for her to just say no to a weapon.

But no. No. She had to be decisive and firm and make some tough decisions, but she figured, if anything, she could maybe make it easier to cut a few weapons from the wall by cutting them from the shop entirely.

Which was why she dragged out the sandwich board to put out in front of the shop:

Spring Cleaning Blow-Out Sale!
Select Weapons 10% 25% 50% off!

And if that didn't help clear some of the excess, then...well...

Looks like the weapons wall was saying nice and full after all!

Rey hadn't had too much time with the revamped obstacle course before everything happened last week, so of course she was giving it a try again today. And against all better judgment she was doing it in the snow.

Which was actually more slippery than she'd counted on, and the jumps sure looked badass until you were trying to land on a wet surface without either falling on your ass or toppling off the course. And it really didn't help that she could hear the woodchucks laughing about it.

The important thing was she stayed up, so there,

The events of last week had Travis re-devoted to his workout routine. Being here alone, without Maya running extended, aggressive, olympic-sized drills on the regular, had meant that he'd let himself get a little bit soft. And if the island was going to occasionally throw rage rocks and mud monsters and killer vines at them, then he needed to stay in shape.

Maya had been happy to send him videos of the Station 19 A shift running drills that he could work out alongside. They mostly just made him faintly homesick, but that was better than the overwhelming grief he got every time he thought about the mud monster imitating Michael.

He sighed as he finished his hose drill and headed to the reception desk to rest for a minute and rehydrate. "I definitely need to do some recruiting," he said. "It'd be so much safer working with at least one other trained firefighter. Or at least a dog. Fire dogs are totally traditional, right?"

He looked around the empty station.

"Also, it'd give me someone to talk to other than myself. I could at least pretend I wasn't going insane."

Issa had lost her interest in climbing trees, at least today. Instead Seivarden had to watch her chase ducks, which meant most of the time lying flat on the ground, tail whipping back and forth, and making noises. The ducks had the advantage of being able to fly.

The flamingos had the advantage of having sharp beaks, which meant that after one attempt at attacking them, Issa had decided they didn't exist.

Seivarden was sitting on a bench with a mug of tea, finding the whole thing a lot more peaceful than tree climbing.
