Soooooo, this last week had been....kind of a looooot, and Prompto found himself that Monday with...a few...regrets, if he was entirely honest. Not that he didn't want to be there to help and support Liz, because he did, and he knew she was going to need it, but still...he was way out of his element here. As if the whole fact that her having, you know, sort of killed a bunch of people, including those on her team, might make conversation around the table a little more awkward, there was just that Liz's friends from home included a big fucking daemon and some dude who could apparently read his mind, and that wasn't intimidating! No, not at allllll.

He didn't even really celebrate Thanksgiving!

And it really didn't help that Gladio had pretty much read him the riot act about jumping in too quick and too fast; apparently, Liz had not left a very good impression on Saturday, and was convinced that most of this was just Prompto trying to overcompensate for the failings in his last relationship, which, come on, man, ouch. Harsh much?

But whatever. He was in for it now, and at least there'd be cats, and it meant a lot to Liz, and that was what mattered, and, if anything, there was still a chance her boss would totally veto the idea of some rando crashing in on their secret government agency holiday party, so, really, the odds of getting out of it still seemed pretty high, if you asked him...

But, for now, to keep his mind off of all that, he was just sort of fiddling with some equipment and testing out different scopes on some new lenses that had just come in. Because, hey, if he was going to be selling them and making recommendations to people, he should have the experience with them himself, right?

Despite the long list of complaints that pretty much awaited her the moment she stepped foot into Turtle & Canary again from Apu, Astrid had done a fine job of keeping up the management duties in Summer's absense, but Summer had to admit, she was kind of feeling glad to get back into the swing of it, and Astrid really didn't seem to care one way or the other, but was grateful for the experience. She'd done a great job with making sure everything was well-stocked and ready for Thanksgiving, she'd decorated the place nicely for it, too, which just left Summer with not a lot to do except get back in on her old inventory and ordering rounds and maybe take a look at the budget and see if Shunsui had been taking out more for his personal drinking habits while she was gone or not.

She was pleasantly surprised and almost a little proud to discover that he actually had not. Which wasn't to say he didn't dip into the stores budget for his sake at all, of course, but it was still reasonably in line with how it had been when she left. Good for him.

And look at her, being a good manager by even sparing some time to listen to Apu go off on some new idea of starting a new country called Turtlecanaristan. As someone who had been a God-Empress of a planetoid before, she had to admit, he had some good ideas for governing this tiny little retail replublic, but she did think that immediately putting both Shunsui and Astrid up for trial for treason against best retail practices was a little much right off the bat.

There was at least one benefit to one's friend having been turned into a rabbit and you working at an animal shelter, and that was that this meant Sakaki could just bring Kiem-bunny along with her to work so that he could hop around with the other rabbits and make new rabbit friends in his current form.

So if anyone did come in today, hopefully they would be mindful of all the rabbits set loose on the place, because, really, sometimes you just had to let them out and explore their surroundings and be adorable.

It was a good way to destress, anyway, from the unexpected difficulties of making sure Kiem-bunny didn't just eat all of her magazines and to make sure he stayed good and clear from Hedwig's cage. She was a very well-behaved owl, of course, but one did get nervous having smaller creatures around her, because nature was not always as cute as Sakaki would like to believe it was!

It wasn't quite cold enough for Stark to start wearing his fluffy muppet skin coat. Today it hadn't been too chilly of a walk from the apartment building over to the coffee shop. Of course, it was a short walk and he hadn't lingered outside any longer than was necessary. Longer walks might require warmer clothing.

It was definitely a day for hot coffee, even if it wasn't yet full-on fluffy coat weather. He'd ordered the chestnut praline coffee despite not being entirely sure what that was going to taste like. He wasn't sure he'd ever eaten a chestnut but the barista assured him it was good. And, he reasoned, if he didn't like it he could just get another drink to wash down the first one. 2 coffees might be slightly excessive but they certainly wouldn't cause any harm and it would help him to get through all the new seasonal flavors.

Taking his coffee to a table by the window so he could enjoy the sun while it lasted, he sat down and pulled out his phone. He was looking at recipes at first, trying to decide if he ought to attempt cooking something on Thursday. He had no idea how to make anything that seemed Thanksgiving related.

There were turkeys in the magic store.

"This feels . . . above my paygrade," Eliot decided. And other than enchanting the floor to magically vanish any droppings they might leave, did his absolute best to ignore the general cacophony.

You know, at least until they decided some of the spells and things looked tasty.

"I don't think you want to -- and now you have teeth. Oh fuck."

Anyone coming in would find Eliot standing on the checkout counter, trying to ward off toothy turkeys with a decorative cinnamon broom.

"And I thought Thanksgivings on the farm were terrible. . . ."

The black eye and cracked ribs he'd gotten in Baltimore had mostly healed, but Steve still wasn't up for climbing cliffs, much to the outspoken relief of the Troopers.

"You could at least pretend like you're upset I'm hurt," Steve pointed out.

He got a bunch of shrugs in reply.

"See if you get anything but coal in your stockings," Steve muttered threateningly.

Nell was rather pensive today, thinking about another Thanksgiving away from home. There were, after all, many things to be grateful for, but it was hard to have not seen anyone in three years.

Some of the more showy flowers tried to get her attention with big blooms, but she was too self-absorbed to notice until one just about bloomed itself right off the shelf. She was quick to compliment them then and give them an extra dose of fertilizer to make up for all the energy they'd expended to cheer her up.

Parties, Margo could do. Family get togethers? Fuck, that shit got awkward. Sure, Lecter’s Thanksgiving thing didn’t involve her family at all, but it still had her thinking.

She didn’t like it.

“Ya know what? I’m just not gonna think about the holiday,” she said to the bath bomb in her hand. None of them had acted up since last week, but who fucking knew, right?

She picked up her phone, leaning back in her seat behind the counter. “There’s gotta be someone out there who knows some bath product magic, right?”

Hannibal personally felt flyers were incredibly gauche, but he'd learned to adapt to Fandom norms, so here he was, putting up flyers around town.

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED
to the house of
DR HANNIBAL LECTER
for
THANKSGIVING DINNER
Thursday, November 25th

at 3pm
Food and drink will be provided.

He also, however, sent nicely calligraphed versions of the same invitation to everyone he knew.

[OOC: Feel free to intercept him and have a chat as he's putting these up! Everybody who will be in town - students, faculty, and townies - is invited! I will OOCly be at my own dinner, so extreme SP is likely, but I'll post up as soon after midnight as I can for maximum time, and I figure some folks are bound to be around. :)]
