Sidon was very pleased to be back on the island again after dealing with some very important Zora prince stuff back home, though he found himself terribly disappointed to have missed the KRAKEN!...

...drill. The vet continually tried to clarify to him that he'd missed the kraken drill, but Sidon continued to somehow miss that particular word every time she mentioned it.

"You know," he informed her proudly, "I'd have given that kraken a piece of my mind! Maybe I still should! I'm fairly certain he avoids me when I go out for my swims, you know, and with good reason! I'll have none of that monster rampaging on my watch! Did I ever tell you about the time I actually defeated a massive octorok, bigger even than my father, that was terrorizing the Hylian seashores with its fearsome size and relentless terror?"

Yes, Sidon. Yes, you have. Many....many times...

....and, well, the vet was just going to have to add one more to that growing tally as he launched into the tale yet again, somehow, somehow in even more grandiose detail than before.

"Wooooooooow!" "Ooooooooooh!" "Amazing!"

Look, Graham had said he was going to be impressed by the decorations Miss Steph had put up during his radio broadcast, and he meant it, going around and oooh-ing and ahhh-ing at all the bigger, more noticeable signs and flags, but mostly all the little, tiny details he'd picked up on as he scoured the room looking for them once he saw some of the miniatures decked out, because that was the kind of attention to detail he could really get behind!

And it definitely gave him something to do, trying to seek out any other little touches he may have missed.

And it was also kind of inspiring. Sure, he didn't actually know what all this Pride stuff was all about, but it was impossible not to pick up on some of the excitement and importance for it. So, feeling a little wrapped up in it all, even as an unknowing bystander, he told Saffron to keep an eye on the place real quick for him so he could dash out, gather up a few supplies, and then come dashing back with a bunch of fabric and his sewing kit in his arms, which he dumped out on the counter by the register and then got to work.

He'd start out small, with little rainbow cloaks and hats that could maybe deck out more of the miniatures, and then there were some that were conspicuously squirrel-sized, and then work his way up, to more cat, robot, or gremlin sized, and then eventually toward a few generally people-sized ones, too. Because why not?

The competition picnic was tomorrow, and was Watts doing anything to prepare?

Of course not.

He was sitting with his feet propped up on his desk, and leaning back at a quite frankly dangerous angle as he read a book on the modern Korean alphabet. Yes, technically, hangul had existed back in his time, but it hadn't been terribly popular. But given that it was now the language's official writing system, he felt obligated to keep himself up-to-date, as it were.

So yes, today would be spent squinting up at the book interspersed with occasionally hunching over his desk to practice actually writing.

The dreams weren't constant or anything, but they were consistent enough to be annoying. Rey hadn't had nearly enough sleep last night.because of it, and she was trying to work out the frustration on the course. Which meant, as usual, that she was messing it up, which only frustrated her more, which meant she messed up more.

Halfway in, she stopped, jumped down, took a breather, and then started again, calmer this time. At least she was learning.

So tomorrow was the joint Police and Fire Departments Picnic, and Travis was going maybe a tiny bit overboard today making sure everything was in order in the station and in spic, span, and perfect condition.

He almost never let this side of his personality loose. There were white gloves involved. Buck and Eddie were probably going to hate him by the end of the weekend. But hey, at least they weren't going to try to do a charity 5K in turnouts like his station back in Seattle was going to do. . . .

Lucifer walked into the Nest, made himself a refreshing whiskey cocktail with a surprising amount of speed, and then settled on a couch in the back. Tiny stared at him the whole time, waiting for the onslaught of words to start.

Or the onslaught of movement.

Or anything.

Finally he lifted an eyebrow.

"Yes, you put a pink waterfall in the axe range," Lucifer said, staring down at his phone. "Very nice."

The Devil's Nest was open.

After hearing the burst of static that had come from the communicator early Wednesday morning, Goose had been working non stop to try and get it working. Once he had finished classes for the day, he decided to go for a change of scenery and stopped by the Perk to do some work on his communicator and see if he could get that connection going again. He was also going through a lot of coffee at this point but by now the Baristas were used to this so they didn’t say anything as he ended up on his fifth one in a short amount of time.

That was when he heard it.

“Ignis?” he bolted upright when that familiar sound of feedback came through, “can you hear me?”

It was quiet again.

Goose sighed and continued to try and work on finding that frequency again, pausing every now and again to drink his coffee.

The park was done up with streamers, strings of lights and all the tacky police and firefighter themed decor you could find at a Party City, so it was maybe not quite as badass as McGarrett had been intending, but he figured that the sections that had been cordoned off for each department to show off would make up for that.

Well. That and the mahi mahi and Longboard beers he'd brought in from Honolulu. He knew a guy.

He was behind one of the grills, shirtless (worrying about burns was for the fire department), bopping his head along to the beat of the zombie band who were thrilled to be playing out in the sunlight and well away and upwind from the food because Steve wasn't stupid. That no one had put sunscreen onto the zombie band would be a Tino problem for the rest of the week.

The sun was shining, the weather was perfect and warm, and the tug-of-war for on-island first responder dominance would be both shirtless and unnecessary. Welcome, everyone!
