One of the nice things about living above the place where you work in December was that you could actually get to work without having to worry about getting something like marizpan shaped like fruit stuck in your hair. Because things stuck in Prompto's hair would always be a tragedy.

So instead of tragedy, Prompto was just keeping himself busy, helping what few sparse customers they got, but mostly focusing on keeping up with some of the freelance work he'd been doing in his spare time, which, quite frankly, had been doing better than he was expecting, so even though that meant his weeks were pretty loaded, he was just glad for the extra money coming in.

And, yes, he was singing along to Christmas music as he worked, because, no, he actually wasn't already sick of it, nor did he suspect he ever would be.

The vet had been seeing something floating around the internet and social media of various shelters having a sort of "Pet of the Week" board, where there was not only a pet of the week position for an animal that had done particularly well, but also a naughty pet of the week for one who had behaved particularly poorly. Sakaki liked the idea behind the first part, but she didn't like the idea of calling out bad behavior in the animals and shaming them like that, and her concerns about the project were just compounded when she came in and saw this week's board for the cats specifically.

"If we put cats on the naughty list for biting us," she pointed out, "we'd have to put all the cats on the naughty list."

To which the vet responded by just handing a sharpie marker over to Sakaki and telling her she better get to work, then.

But Sakaki couldn't do it. She just couldn't bring herself to put any cat on the naughty list, and, in fact, tearfully wiped Leo's name off the naughty side and proceeded to put every cat in the store on the Pet of the Week good side.

The vet was still recovering from the holiday party that weekend to really care too much, either.

Summer was glad to get the chance to really shake off whatever it was that had been glitching in the Danger Shop and discover that it was, thankfully, just the Danger Shop and she wasn't about to spend the whole day in a sort of unstable mess where nothing seemed to stay the same for too long and you had no control over your reactions or emotions or even who you were, in some cases. This was made even easier by the fact that she could focus on a special order that had come in before getting to her usual inventory and ordering tasks for Monday. So after a little bit of digging, she made a quick phone call to Octavia about it, shot a text to Amaya because the part for the Squishy machine had come in, and then set to her business as usual.

But not before stopping to see what Apu was setting up by the door.

"....Apu," she said, "are you taking the marzipan fruit from outside and repackaging them to resell as Christmas gifts right now?"

She didn't let him answer; it was pretty clear that this was exactly what he was doing.

"No," said Summer, firmly, "absolutely not. First off, that's gross. Secondly, it's all going to disappear tomorrow, anyway, and then I'll have to deal with a ton of angry phone calls from people complaining about the marzipan they paid good money for just up and disappearing, and thirdly, half of these are still smashed from the impact! I mean, look at that pear! Would you eat that pear?"

As soon as she said it, though...

"Actually, you probably would. Never mind. Just please don't try to resell things that come from the sky, dude, okay? That's, like, cardinal rule number one around here. Have some fucking integrity, geez."

And with that, Summer went back to her work, and she was, unfortunately, not surprised to see the display table still set up with the repackaged marzipan still there when she got back to the counter.

Rosa spent most of her day being annoyed. Not with her work, or anything like that, but with one of her sisters, who seemed unable to to get it through her head that, even if she did want to get together with them for some sort of winter holiday team building experiences, she definitely wouldn't want it to be some kind of murder-mystery escape-room dinner-theater bullshit, because the whole solving mysteries thing was kind of what she did for a living.

"Exactly," she said. "Which is why you'd be so good at it, right?"

Which was when Rosa realized that the whole reason she was so insistent on it was to try and get her on her team to make up for the fact that she sucked so bad.

"If you bring this up again," Rosa informed her, "I'm sending you scorpions for Christmas."

Which would at least buy her a little period of peace and quiet while her sister tried to figure out if Rosa was being serious about that or not.

Really, it could go either way.

Today at Pizza Planet, when Raiden wasn't actively working, he could be found out front, looking up with his mouth open. Mmm, marzipan.

This place was great. Today's pizzas? Maybe not so much. But maybe yes?

For whatever reason Nell had not slept well last night. Or over the weekend in general. She'd been awakened by constant nightmares of her last few weeks back home. She wouldn't exactly say she'd woken up screaming, but she'd certainly woken up bolt upright in bed, sweating and shaking. She'd even made an excuse to cancel her training with Marc on Sunday as she certainly wouldn't have been in a good space to fight safely. All of this meant that Nell was even more quiet and pensive than usual today as she went about her duties at the shop.

The flowers seemed to catch her mood and whispered quietly to one another whenever she had passed by. Even the kittens were quieter - she'd interrupted their sleep enough as well.

Still, she was here, she was working, and she'd make an effort to put on a smile and help anyone who stopped by since Covent Gardens was definitely open!

Was Tiny taking the marzipan rain as a sign that a higher power was encouraging his art? Of course he was.

Watch out for the marzipan fruit holiday tree that was a good 6 feet around and reaching for the ceiling. Tiny would occasionally race outside to get more material. Eric, watching with barely concealed concern from the bar, would not be serving you a drink if Tiny was missing.

It wasn't often that Steve envied the Troopers their vaguely creepy helmets but today they were not getting hit directly in the head with marzipan fruit and he was.

Being a stubborn sort of person, he refused to flinch as they landed on him, but he would use the distraction not to do the paperwork he was never going to have done anyway.

Vi wasn't sure why, but she was weirdly restless today, and while it wasn't like she had nothing to do, all her various chores and tasks only seemed to take up a fraction of her time, leaving her aimless.

Eventually, after making sure there was enough clear space on the floor, she started shadowboxing, Little Box, helpfully holding a target up for her in a servo arm, while Saffron watched from the counter. Didn't Vi know that any free time could be better spent paying attention to her?
