After last week, and with the semester being over and everything, Summer dipped back home for the weekend, to hold her breath about being sucked into something weird and to poke at Rick about portal gun business, to add a sort of "well, if you can't do anything about Eos, how about this Hawkins place?", which would probably not yield any positive results, because when asked for specifics, Summer realized she didn't actually know and could only respond with, "IDK, Ohio, or something? Maybe Iowa? Basically, somewhere I'd rather die than actually live in." But, hey! It was out there now, at least?
And walking into the store that morning made her sort of wish she'd extended her visit back home by a day or something, because she was walking right into Apu's full celebration of a band that ceased to be relevant before she was even born.
Yes, she could just listen to her own music while she did her inventory and ordering, but you could only handle so much New Kids on the Block before it turned into a battle for the sound system, where Summer would pointedly switch to some One Direction and BTS, with an announcement made over the intercom to remind shoppers that this was, indeed, the twenty-first century, and, in perhaps a particular act of cruelty, reminding everyone that the eighties were literally forty years ago and to kindly move the fuck on.
And, considering the band in question, she liked to think that even Nancy and Eddie would agree with her on that one.
