"What do you mean, there's no provolone?" Summer asked, frowning at the cheese panda while doing her best to try and ignore the mariachi band that was playing way too closely to her, the one that Apu had brought in for Mexican Independence Day, and the cheese panda tried to explain without any word at all about the entire lack of provolone cheese in the store that day.

"So there's a shortage on provolone," Summer shrugged a little, because there was still, like, so many other cheeses, "what's the big deal?"

The cheese panda continued to try and press upon her the importance of all this provolone just disappearing, apparently there had been plenty up until today, and now it was all gone, but Summer was still not seeing what the big deal was, and she promised the cheese panda she'd order extra today to make up for it, but he was still irritated and there was a huge cleanup on Aisle Handwavey because of it and Summer wondered if she needed to threaten mandated employee anger management classes again.

But, after she ordered the provolone, she almost didn't even think about it again, save for when a customer asked about it, which was....surprisingly high, since when did so many people need provolone cheese??? Did someone buy them out of it late last night or early this morning? She checked the sales and didn't see any...

...and then she started to warily eye the piñata that Apu had hoisted up by the Squishy machine.

No....

....no. He wouldn't...

....ohgod he would!

Kamala had her hands full today, working on her intern project, which had somehow shifted from community outreach to writing the company newsletter. And what was she writing about? The fall menu changes at the Stark Industries Starbucks.

Look, the gremlins were right there, and Kamala figured keeping them happy was probably a smart move.

But the real challenge wasn’t the newsletter, it was the new beet smoothie she was trying. Kamala had hoped the bright red color would trick her brain into thinking it tasted better, but no. Every time she took a sip, her face scrunched up in disappointment. She’d push the cup away, only to absentmindedly take another sip while she worked on the newsletter. And the cycle continued.

Newsletters and terrible smoothies. At this point, any interruption would be a welcome escape for Kamala.

Unfortunate blip at the club aside (he hoped Arden wasn't too embarrassed; it could have happened to anybody who didn't know their own powers), Raiden had had a great visit home to his brothers over the weekend and was in a terrific mood when he started work at Pizza Planet. And to make his mood even better, they had finally worked through all the apples so he was free to make whatever his heart desired...and his heart desired junk food. Duh. His heart always desired junk food.

It was a quiet day today, which Nell took full advantage of in order to catch up on paperwork for both stores.

Midafternoon she had a visit from one of the raccoons with a pile of rocks because apparently it was national collect rocks day and they wanted to share. Which was nice of them, she thought as she set them aside. Now she had to figure out something to do with them.

All was quiet when Liliana stepped into the Infinite Consortium today. She didn't trust it. Last time she'd been here, there had been three fighting artifact creatures skulking around and while they had some kind of innate capabilities that held one another into some kind of detente, there was nothing that stopped them from turning on her. Save their rightful fear, anyway.

As a precaution, she once again summoned her mana. "All right you lot. Show yourselves before I get cranky," she called, before her foot brushed up against something.

It was a chunk of metal that looked like half a pair of scissors. "Interesting..." she murmured. A few steps on, she found an aisle riddled with scraps of orange and black paper.

"So the lizard must have caught the tiger by surprise. That just leaves the lobster." She looked around. "Come out, come out, wherever you are..."

There was shuffling from further in store. Raising an eyebrow, she stepped around a large shelving unit, thinking that poor Ignis would probably be disappointed at the lack of lobster for dinner, but her spells generally didn't leave much edible behind. The shuffling continued as she moved across the main walkway--

Only to find her chair there, looking still and as innocent and as an entirely normal as an ambush predator posing as a chair could look. And no sign of the lobster. "Awwww," she cooed. "Did you kill it? What a good hunter you are. You know what? You deserve a nice waxing."

If an entirely normal chair could preen, this one would be.

"I'll fetch some from T&C's and make Dean handle it tomorrow," she decided. Because she was the boss and could make those decisions. "Hmm. Maybe he could fetch it and take you out for a walk at the same time. I think it will be a nice bonding experience."

Dean.
Take the chair for a walk to pick up some furniture wax from T&C's. It'll be good for the both of you.

[Yes, the chair now gets an icon. It deserves it. <3]

Steve was in the office, not an otter, and not remotely in the mood to talk about how he had been an otter. If Ralph made one more pointed comment about it, he was going to be tempted to throw his favorite pebble at him.

Shut up, it was totally normal to have a favorite pebble.

Steve was reading through the crimes reported in Honolulu and snickering to himself about a robber the HPD picked up after he'd fallen asleep in the home he was robbing. "At least be dedicated to crime," he muttered to himself, shaking his head.

The Trooper Station was open!

Eric was back from Never You Mind Now having finished his important business that he would also not be telling anyone about and definitely hadn't involved murder. Probably. As far as you know. Which you don't because this is all narrative. Ha.

He walked into the bar to the sight of Tiny with a sledgehammer, the music system in pieces, and "Cotton-Eyed Joe" still blasting through the speaker system.

Eric heaved a theatrical sigh (because he didn't breathe). "Right. I'll just find an exorcist."

The Devil's Nest was open, the drinks were strong, and the music was. Well. Awful.

A box had arrived with the deliveries absolutely plastered with dire warnings not to open it, promising even more dire consequences if the seals were broken before a given time. After turning the box around and over several times, Vi found the sticker with the embargo date.

It was from a week ago.

She sighed and got out the box-cutters.
