Lana opened the store on time, but found it hard to keep her mind on her work. She just couldn't stop thinking about Marie and hoping she was alright.

Prior to this year, the most time Chad had spent in the States was avoiding authorities during illegal but harmless treks across the border, so he didn't have a very firm grasp on American holidays, much less federal ones. If Maureen hadn't wanted the store opened on Labor Day, he wouldn't have had a clue, especially since school was starting today. Besides, it was his first day. He was far too excited not to be there, so, after his class and some lunch, Empire was open.

He'd brought along a cheap Cinco de Mayo noisemaker, just in case no one believed that he was really excited.

The music? An often switching collection of eighties hair bands, because he'd play a song he'd like, realize he didn't know anything else on the album, and change to something else familiar, only to have to repeat the process.

[[I'm not around until later today, but I wanted to get this up now ]]

With the first day of classes upon them, Braca expects a quiet day in his office. So, he turns on his computer and sets to work trying to figure out if Scorpius has an email address.

After a week of cleaing up and inventory, John was ready to open Sparky Repairs to the public once more.

The register and the three dingbots seemed to be the only thing left from Agatha, and they moped around the shop. Well, the register didn't move much, and Emo!bot and Goth!bot were too depressed to move much.

John blew a layer of dust off the "Help Wanted" sign and placed it in the window.

Jarod opened the bar, having slept better this weekend than he had in months. It was unfortunate that he hadn't heard about the missing girl until last night and hadn't known help with a search was needed, but at least she'd been found and it sounded like she was safe.

He put on some low jazz, dimmed the lights, brewed the coffee, and settled in for a mellow night. One of the zombies was even playing a great string bass. Probably better not to ask what he'd used to string it, though.

At the Perk last night, there'd been talk of having a barbque to celebrate Labor Day and kick off the school year. Ellie was one of the first to arrive, so she set about putting together a table with some grillable meats, vegetable skewers, and potato salad. She wasn't much of a cook, but she figured someone would know how to work a grill.

She'd brought her telescope for stargazing once it got dark and a CD player belting out 80s tunes.

[ooc: open as open can be, natch...students, teachers, townies, whomever!]

Since in wasn't raining anymore, Ranma decided to spoil Mizu with a long walk all the way to the park. He hadn't the foresight to think it might resume raining and was thus umbrella-less. His puppy bounded from puddle to puddle looking like a kid with evil plots. Maybe it was a mere coincidence that the little beagle pulled Ranma through a large puddle and splashed him majorly. Enough to make him transform. //Mizu...// Ranma looked at the romping puppy sternly but his face melted to a grin. //You're...cute.// He hoped no one heard that...

((ooc: Open mostly to a certain anal retentive...))
