Monday, January 1st, 2007 07:07 pmdrywitmartini.livejournal.comRadio was done, gifts were left and his letter of resignation was safely with Zoe. There was no doubt partying still going on since there were still lights on, scattered across the island.
Hawkeye watched the lights for a few minutes in silence. He'd said his goodbyes, but this place would never fully be out of his life or out of his thoughts.
But it was time to go.
After a moment, Hawkeye turned and began to walk across the causeway, eventually disappearing into the mist. The walk was completed in silence and he didn't look back the entire way, nor did he stop until he reached the mainland.
"Scared the hell outta me!" a voice said suddenly. Hawkeye was startled, but relaxed and grinned when he saw it was just a fisherman looking spooked.
"I have that effect on people."
"You could give a guy a heart attack, showing up outta nowhere. Where'd you come from anyway?"
"The cause..." Hawkeye turned to point back at the island. "...way." He was pointing out at empty sea. He sobered.
The causeway was gone, and so was Fandom.
