As Hoshi made her way to work with Porthos, she was surprised to see light showers of something that looked like snow. It was much to warm for snow, she thought. Then she looked closer and realized it the "snow" was gray. "I think it's a good day to stay indoors," mumbled Hoshi. She picked up Porthos and rushed off to the hotel.

Jen had been halfway to work when a gust of wind left her fairly well covered in ash, an effect she naturally had to investigate. That didn't take long, luckily, and she ended up spending most of her shift just outside the doorway, eyeing the volcano thoughtfully and futilely racking her brain for a specific date in history that could or could not have happened in this particular reality anyway.

[OOC: No OCD, please mod your service as I'm off to a wedding and will be gone most of the day.]

Once again, Bridge has brought RIC to the store with him. Robot dogs may not need exercise like normal dogs, but he figures socialisation with other robots definitely can't hurt.

Bridge himself is sitting at the counter, his hand every so often reaching up to touch the ring dangling from a chain around his neck, as if to check that yes, it's still there.

Stark Industries is open, and even the chance of rain (or ash rain) is not dampening Bridge's mood at all.

There is a note on the door of the Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center, explaining that the store is closed indefinitely.

cut for image )

The door is locked. Depending on when you stop by, you may hear noises from inside the store, but if you knock, no one will answer.

(OOC: The Wellspring is very closed today, for plotty reasons. Feel free to stop by and react, but no one will be admitted.)

After making sure the store was ready and opened on time, Toby stared for a bit out the window.

"It's like dirty snow," he said to no one in particular. "Maybe the island's in L.A. now."

Turning his evenly tanned back on the window, he started sorting through a table of speedos. Kevin really needed a nice, tight bathing suit. Maybe something in a pale green.

This newest move had been very, very nice to Vala, and in a gesture demonstrating pure boredom overdose of Annette Funicello/Frankie Avalon movies altruism, decided to share her largesse with the inhabitants of Fandom, who seemed to be in desperate need of relaxation.

Not that she'd seen most of them in a while, but that was hardly the point.

Rising early, she'd hired a caterer to provide fully moddable beach foods at appropriate intervals and a bartender to provide drinks with and without alcohol to anyone who requested them.

As the sun went down, she had hopes of a campfire, music (hopefully with singing), or a dance-off of some kind. But not a virgin sacrifice, because that only happened in one movie and therefore involved poetic license on the part of the screenwriter, at least in her opinion. *eyes Xander suspiciously*

As for herself, she'd be stretched out under a shade umbrella enjoying the location and a lovely drink with an umbrella in it. Volcano? What volcano?

Once Turtle realized that it wasn't all just her imagination and there really was a smoke coming from one of the volcanoes, she and Apu were having a rather deep and intelligent discussion regarding whether or not it was something to worry about.

"I think the gods, they are angry."

"The gods are not angry, Apu. Why would they be angry?"

"Because you are thinking of living in sin with your boyfriend, Miss Turtle."

"I am not going to be living in si--" She grunted, cutting off the topic of conversation before it could continue. "Do you think it's anything dangerous?"

"It might be the wrath of the angry gods, Miss Turtle."

Turtle snorted at that. "Okay, the school handled being blown up by aliens; I'm sure a little lava's barely going to hurt."

Either way, flame retardant merchandise was currently 30% off.

Roy stood with his back against the entrance door of the station. The view was more than a little disturbing and he held out his hand as it started to rain, the ashes staining his white gloves.

As soon as he'd realised what had happened, he'd gone to the island to offer his help. He'd been reassured that they'd been living there for years and could handle this just fine. Not that it eased Roy's mind, but there hadn't been much point pushing his help on anyone. So he'd made it back and made the troopers set up arrangements in case anything happened that might influence Fandom.

With both the ocean between Fandom and Bali Hai and the cliffs surrounding most parts of the island, it seemed like Fandom would be safe. Nevertheless, he'd figured out which points might need to be reinforced if things got very ugly or if the ash fall got too bad.

So for now, there didn't seem to be a whole lot more he could do but keep an eye on the situation.

When Jaye left the beach, she went straight to work. And she was definitely surprised to see the zombie band on one side of the stage with the BANDages on the other.

"What's with them?" Jaye asked.

Tino just shrugged.

She could shrug better. "Dance, monkeys," she said offhandedly as she went back behind the bar.

To her surprise, the BANDages, not used to Jaye, actually tried, though it was stiff and robotic and involved a lot of rigid arm-flailing. Not willing to be outdone, the zombies tried to compete, which went okay until the drummer's arm fell off.

Gabriel sat on the steps leading up to the church doors, watching the smoke from the volcano with a smile on his face. Cat lay snoring next to him with a dead bird under her paw.

The view between Fandom and Bali Hai was partially obscured by haze but, as the sun rose, it burned away and the plume of smoke rising from one of Bali Hai's volcanoes could be seen.

It's quite a sight.
