Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

Sitting on the counter of the diner was a little bell and a sign asking potential customers to ring it for service, because Cal was actually very busy in the kitchen for a change. Not because he was actually helping with the normal load of work. No, he was just being very resourceful and using the privacy of the kitchen, as well as the extent of the supplies and the availability of ingredients to try and whip something different and special and cool for Claire for Valentine's Day.

Today's Specials

TODAY WAS THE DAY OF A DANCE.

Yes, it deserved capslock, since that was how Kaylee as thinking of it. She had her dress, and she had cute shoes that she wouldn't trip over, and she was going to make Claudia do her hair.

But, for the time being, she was bouncing around the shop and humming tunelessly.

Jenny was actually at the store on time for once, ready to assist in any last-minute formalwear disasters. Or possibly mock the person having the last-minute disaster; you could never quite tell how she'd react.

After rearranging the formalwear once again, she took up her usual post behind the counter with an ashtray and a magazine.

Pixie Dust was open.

It was a Very Awkward shift for Jen today, what with having to explain last Saturday to the staff, half of whom she'd flirted with in the process of persuading them to sell the stuff that . . . had been replaced, for now, with cheap plastic patio furniture.

Very Awkward, and Filled With Facepalming, but at least they'd kept the sales receipts for the old stuff.

So if anybody needed Jen today, she'd be in the back room, on the phone, wanting to know why in hell someone had been willing to pay that much for a chair.

Rikku was crazy-hyper today at the Wellspring Arms. It was almost Valentine's Day, and it was almost her-and-Reno's anniversary, and it was almost the big dance! Now she just had to be patient.

Rikku was never any good at patient. So she'd bounce, instead.

There was a dance tonight!

Which pretty much meant that Viki was just marking time at work until she could get out of there as soon as possible so she could go and dress up. She didn’t care that she didn’t have a date, she never did, and quite honestly, the fact that she was actually going to make it to a dance was exciting enough for her.

It rarely happened that way for her, after all.

Dor was spending the day deep in thought as he worked behind the counter today and was seeking advice from objects in the room about how to talk to Irene.

He immediately disregarded the comic books' suggestion to wait until Irene was kidnapped by Dor's archenemy, rescued and eternally grateful.

Liir was at work, hoping that everything he'd planned for tonight went as it was supposed to.

With a new icon.

It was awesome like that.

[ocdless because everyone's at the dance anyway]

Hurley opened up the shop, ready to distribute whatever last-minute flowers folks needed for the dance.

Harper was planning to leave a little early today to get ready for the dance. She had her dress and accessories already, but she still took time to look through the vintage clothing to see if anything caught her eye. Justin the flour baby, in his glow-in-the-dark baby clothes, was propped up next to the register.

[Open and no OCD!]

Mary really didn't want to hear about people's love lives today, so she had a bunch of room keys available to hand out as people started requesting them. There was also a big basket of condoms next to the strategically-place bowl of fruit at the front desk.

Ray's mood was kinda caught up between two things: 1) the bad guy got away yesterday, which sucked; 2) Pepper came over last night to check on him, which was definitely a Good Sign and did not suck.

So he was stuck in the middle. Not really in a pranking mood, but he wasn't moping, either.

Just drinking coffee and ticking off his damn paperwork. And statements from the whole Stark crew. Well, at least it was something.

No, Katchoo wasn't going to the dance. Please.

And if you asked her, no, she wasn't bitter at all. At all.

That had absolutely nothing to do with why she was sitting outside the Perk, working her way through triple-shot mochas and at least a pack of cigarettes while the dance was going on.

Nothing.

She wasn't moping, and she wasn't bitter, dammit.

[OOC: She lies. And it's open, of course, if you want to poke at the volatile grouch, though still SP until I get home.]

So far disaster hadn't struck and it seems that the StuCo wasn't tempting fate with the choice of decor. Good thing. It would suck to have an invasion before everyone got lucky on Valentine's Day.

There was still plenty of food to eat, dances to be had and, hey, it looked like someone spiked the punch.

[You are some damn talky people. This is your mirror post (possibly not your last) for the dance. Wait for the OCD or you'll have me to deal with and I fight dirty up!]

Arya opened up the shop, thinking she'd finally come to understand what Valentine's Day was all about. She was still getting used to all of the holidays and customs she'd come across.

Jolee didn't know why Tino was dressed like a ninja and rapping behind the bar tonight and you could be damn sure that he wasn't going to ask. He really didn't want to know.

[OOC: AFK until about 8 Eastern, then I'm around! I had Vanilla Ice's Ninja Rap stuck in my head on the way home tonight for some reason.

ETA: Or maybe I'm not completely around. The cold that wouldn't die continues to not die and I don't feel great. Mod Tino for speed, but I will still answer pings, albeit slowly.]

Marion had spent most of the afternoon decorating the bar with Valentine's decorations she handwavily got from Turtle & Canary. The whole red and pink theme was kind of making her gag but it was Valentine's Day and people were here to find love or whatever.

Marion hoped she was getting a bonus for this or something

After she had set all the decorations and tables up, she put out a nice sign:

Caritas Presents
THREE MINUTE DATES

Hosted by Marion Ravenwood
Reject people real fast

When everyone arrived, Marion got on stage and grabbed the mic. "Okay everyone, this is how this is gonna work. I call your name and someone else's. You get together. You guys talk for three minutes, get to know each other and then you'll hear this," Marion put a whistle into her mouth and blew. "Then I call your name with someone else's and then you switch. Then you do the same thing again. Five times total. Questions? No? Good!"

Then she blew the whistle for fun.

[3 minutes = 10 comments, 5 for each of you. You can do these out of order but try not to Joss yourselves. Up early for great SP justice]

[Wait for the OCD or, I swear, I will have Emmett hug you until your back breaks OCD UP!]
