Call it an insane sense of duty, but Jen was pretty well aware that people would probably be trying to go out in the streets, zombies notwithstanding, and therefore felt obligated to be out there. At least zombies were slow and couldn't fly, right? So nobody'd be dropping her several stories to the pavement this time.

Her laptop was out on the counter, zombie-related research compiling automatically from several sources, and Jen was near the door with her blasters, standing guard and wondering if she'd get a chance to morph at any point so she could use the Vortex Cannon. She missed getting a chance to use that thing.

If this zombie thing made her miss Racerranger this weekend, she'd -- no, look, she wouldn't be furious. She did actually have priorities. But if that happened Jen might sadface a little anyway.

Today's Special*
Free pasta if you're going through town. You might need the carbs.

* - Applicable to customers with a pulse only, sorry.

[OOC: The OCD first produced its pistol for she'd stolen away its rapier, but it couldn't shoot the water so a prisoner it was taken. Can you tell I write these things at stupid o'clock in the morning? Open, and a safe zone for anyone (alive) who needs a break while heading through town!]

Pixie Dust, Friday

Jenny probably could have been excused not coming in to work today. So, perversely, here she was. She did have a baseball bat with her, though, plus she had superpowers.

A hand-lettered sign in the window read:

25% off to replace clothing damaged fighting zombies.

A second sign read:

Special offer for the undead!
Electrical field subtraction followed by swift beatdown to your newly deanimated corpse inside!
So stay the bloody hell out of my store.

Even if the zombies couldn't read, it counted as fair warning to Jenny. And that was all that mattered, wasn't it? Pixie Dust was open.

They were losing more people than they were saving.

Cooper was a fucking bunny.

Ray had not signed up for this. He was chained to his desk right now, sending as many troopers out into the streets to help as he could while he dealt with phone calls and tried to come up with a plan.

Driving motorcycles into zombie heads - not that effective, but it'd make him feel better right now.

[ open! ]

Viki was sitting neatly cross-legged in front of the shop she was, technically, in charge of for the day, and had her wand resting across her lap. She didn’t really need it, after all, as any zombie that got anywhere near her was promptly teleported into the ocean.

She wondered, idly, when anyone was going to track down their hideout and get rid of this infestation, because without a leader to follow, she certainly wasn’t. With an idle sweep on one hand, another zombie disappeared.

Though, Viki mused, at least she was serving as bait? It was not, after all, as if they would get the chance to touch her. Pah, zombies. They weren’t scary at all. Of course, she had experience. And a marked lack of common sense.

Strokes of Genius is Open. If you can get past the employee on the front step.

[And much like her narrative, Viki will keep teleporting any NPC zombies out into the ocean, and any PC zombie to a different part of the town/island, should they shamble over her way. She is, though, open to interruption. Wait for the OCD is up!]

There was absolutely no doubt around the island now that the residents of Fandom were facing off against a dangerous enemy. In nearly every alleyway and behind almost every tree, there was a looming shadow that looked slightly more ominous than it had any right to be. Which of the ominous shadows were zombies and which were merely the result of frayed nerves and overactive imaginations was anyone's best guess.

But each and every one of those shadows would be quite thrilled if curious persons should like to investigate, to find out for sure.

[Once more, this is today's "Looking for Zombies!" post! You know the drill! Ping in to the appropriate thread with your location on the island, and one of our lovely NPC minions will get to you as soon as possible. OCD coming! OCD is up! Have at thee!]

Arya felt she had a duty to watch the store, even when there were zombies outside. She'd managed to avoid them, though she had her sword and bow and arrows on her. Just in case.

Opening up the store, Arya stood close to the counter, a watchful eye on the door.

COYOTE MEDICINE
Native Artifacts and Medicine Man Services
THE MEDICINE MAN IS IN (somewhere around here)

[OOC: No OCD today. The zombies got to it. Zombies are welcome, though Arya will defend herself and the store. And anyone who is out and feels like ducking in for safety.]

The errands that he'd sent his minions on having more or less resulted in success (well, at least he had the toes he'd asked for), the Zombie Voodoo Priest was now completely prepared to retreat into his lair in order to perform a few rituals which would better allow him to keep an eye on the exploits of the living.

Yes, he was having cable television installed, and he would thank his minions kindly to stay out of the way of the poor, somewhat terrified NPC individual doing the job. He needed his brains in order to do the wiring, after all. Especially off in the middle of the preserve, in an abandoned shack with no electricity.

They could devour his brains upon his inevitable failure. In the meantime, the ZVP had coordinated some fun, wholesome activities in order to keep them occupied.

Wasn't he kind?

[Once again, for PC zombie interaction only, please! The location of this event is NFB, but beyond that, radio squirrels are allowed to go nuts, today. Please wait for OCD! OCD is up! Have fun!]

Once more, Gunther was patrolling the lobby with his rolling pin and the sous chef was guarding the back door with a meat cleaver in hand. Mary also had her gun within reach at the front desk. She hoped that she wouldn't have to use it, but she wouldn't hesitate if any of the undead posed a threat.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Today's Special... Just Ask For Food

We do not serve zombies!

[OOC: No OCD. Zombies are welcome, but they're restricted to the first floor and basement of the hotel. Hotel guests are also welcome to join in the defense of the lobby! I'm around on and off all day.]

Harper showed up early to open the store because she planned on leaving early. She just wasn't going to take a chance on getting attacked out on the streets and figured she was safer in the daylight hours. She had her knitting needles in her backpack and would take them out on her walk back to the dorms. It's really a shame that Harper hadn't realized she wasn't exactly safe just because she was in the store.

[Zombies welcome!]

Kaylee was not, by any means, a fighter.

Like, at all. Ever.

So, while she'd actively debated not coming in to work at all today, she'd finally settled on sprinting through town -- which she'd done -- while holding a wrench -- which she had -- and barricaiding herself in the store.

Which was where she was now, hiding behind the counter and peeking out occasionally, even as she was drawing up plans for some kind of tank she could try to build to get back to the dorms.

Look, she could try.

[I'm in and out allllll daaaaaaaaay, so SP!]

Rikku had her Godhand strapped on and the Glock tucked into the small of her back, not to mention the knives stashed in her boots and other assorted goodies. Once she got to the Wellspring Arms, she kicked into high gear, digging out the big, pretty guns from the storage cases and unloading some of the armor she'd brought along.

There was a brand-new sign in the window:

FREE GUNS
FOR ZOMBIE-HUNTERS

FREE ASS-WHUPPINGS
FOR ZOMBIES

If Cable objected, she would shoot him.

The Wellspring Arms was open, and today? Today you could probably snag a weapon from it.

(OCD COMING. People who need guns are welcome. Zombies who would like to bother Rikku? Bring it.)

Jolee looked tired when he took his seat behind the bar tonight. "What?" he asked Tino. "There are zombies traipsing around and I live in the woods. I spent most of the night trying to shoo or scare off anything that came my way. Excuse the old man if he's sleepy after that."

Tino didn't say anything. He was staying out of this.

[OOC: People and zombies are welcome, of course. Just remember, any attempts at violence will get the perpetrator teleported out of the building.]

She-Ra and Swift Wind had spent the day flying above Fandom and saving as many people as they could (aka Ned) from the walking dead who roamed the streets.

Now, the pair were stationed at the gate on this dreary night, hoping to stop any unfortunate creatures from entering the school grounds after dark and potentially talk them down from causing further harm to themselves or others. She-Ra hailed from a world with rainbow trees and talking brooms -- no matter what Buffy said, she had to try to talk it out first.

"I think the weather means to convey a sense of foreboding, Swifty." Like the unicorn was going to disagree with that sentiment. He shook his wings dry and snuffled in anticipation.

[Open to PCs, NPC zombies, PC zombies. So that's everyone, yes.]

Chad was not going to let a thing like zombies stop him from going into the store today, but a thing like zombies was going to make him want to protect some people. So he easily cleared out a path for himself, zombies flying left and right under the brutality of his arm and, once he got inside, he put up a sign, letting everyone know that Groovy Tunes was open for those who needed shelter, if they got, somehow, unexpectedly caught up. There was a big young man with a mega-powered arm designed to do extra damage to undead things and a lot of CDs that could probably cleave okay into a brain inside.

Guitar smashing might be interesting in this context, too.

Groovy Tunes is open!

[[ and OCD-free! Chad is more than happy to help provide a temporary shelter! Masochistic, punch-loving zombies welcome, too!]]

Of course Agnes was at work today. Not in order to sell people things, necessarily, but to do some research.

She'd cleared off a table near the front of the store and filled it with holy water, various religious symbols and artifacts, and -- because it was Agnes -- a large selection of axes and cudgels.

She'd also found a use for the colloidal silver from class -- with a few herbs steeped in it, and a few words said over it, it was perfect for sealing the entrances to the store against the undead. Just to be sure, she nailed a few religious symbols over the door anyways. And kept an axe beside her.

In the meantime, she was looking for anything she could find on zombies. So far, most of what she found was books of necromancy describing how to CREATE them, but she'd barely started looking through the store's collection.

[The store is open -- sorry it's up so late. Zombies are welcome to TRY to come in, but any that do will experience an itching, tingling, burning sensation, not unlike dying in a fire.]
