After Lacey had found out about Thursday's banana-split surprise incident, she had a Very Serious Talk with the kitchen staff about fair division of work, labor laws, and how didn't they think, well-meaning as it was, that was a little harsh of a way to spring the surprise on Francine?

The kitchen staff was entirely unmoved, and Lacey really couldn't fault their ultimate intentions, so . . . she let it go, and busied herself whipping up a batch of cookies, since she had a new bottle of organic natural Mexican vanilla she wanted to try out, and then there was an unfortunate incident with the dishwasher, a fit of sneezing, and a flying spatula . . .

Luke's is open and smells like . . . a cookie, really.

[OOC: The kitten did an amazing disappearing act and took the OCD with it. They're probably plotting evil together right now.]

It was a sleepy Didi at work today. She'd stayed at Drake's wake too late, not drinking but watching everyone enjoy themselves.

It was, she thought, everything Drake -- or anyone -- could ask for, by way of saying goodbye. She was glad to have been there.

She started work on a display of school supplies. The scent of erasers and notebook paper was oddly soothing.

Squishy flavors: Apple, Cinnamon, Red

Angua did not want to be here today. Angua did not want to be anywhere today, most of anywhere where she was expected to do work. Not that there was much of that going on. Angua was just had her head on her desk most of the the time, or threatening to bust her squeaky toy from squeezing it so hard, or staring off into nothing and ruminating on whether or not the troopers all tasted the same or if they had subtle differences, like they had subtle differences in scents.

It was going to be a long day.

[[ open station is open! I might be traveling today, though, so I might be SP, but I might not. WHO KNOWS IT'S A MYSTERY ]]

Alex had opened the shop early and settled in behind the counter with her laptop. She was looking at vacation destinations -- of the tropical variety, of course. She might have been making a list of places she wanted to visit.

And with a little bit of magic, she might just make it happen.

The Magic Box is open.

Price was nursing a tiny hangover today, so he had a thermos filled with hot coffee he'd brewed at home. He had no class to prepare for, his term over. He could have stayed on, taught further exercises in being a soldier. But his heart wasn't really in it, anymore.

He was a soldier, born and bred. But right now, John Price, former captain of the SAS, wanted to be a civilian. He thought about Drake last night, putting such a brave face on, in the face of impending death. That was the sort of bravery he wanted, now. Not the all-guns blazing suicide mission, but the happy party, surrounded by friends.

Friends. That was something he really needed to work on. Especially since there'd been no contact from Soap or Nikolai lately.

Price stood behind the counter, wondering idly if you really could teach an old war dog new tricks.

Karla had been well and truly drunk last night. And while she hadn't thrown up--take that, Drake!--she had spent a goodly portion of the night (okay, morning), with her hand on the floor, trying to keep the room from spinning.

Still, her first hangover was going very well. Her head was only mildly throbbing, she'd stopped being dizzy after her very long shower, and she was even starting to get a little hungry. Right now, she wasn't sure which she was more fond of--her metabolism, or the hangover remedy she was drinking by the gallon.

It was possible she'd even share, if someone similarly afflicted popped by to visit.

[OCD up.]

Claudia was rocking out to Depeche Mode as she sorted books, today. There wasn't much to in the fiction section, but she was continuously getting distracted by an assortment of "So you want to . . ." books.

"I do want to learn to play guitar." Claudia set that one aside to look through, later.

Book Haven was open.

Another day, another store to be opened. Alright, the same store, but she wasn't going to argue with the narrative.

Once again, she realized nobody else was opening the store. That was slightly odd, wasn't it? So Jane took the first minutes of the work day to make a nice, simple sign she proceeded to hang on the door.

Strokes of Genius is hiring!

She would probably need to make it more interesting later, but at the moment she didn't care. Hah!, take that, responsibility.

Dani couldn't figure out why her brother kept sending her text messages asking about Tropical Storm Danielle. It was only after checking something on her laptop that she saw the news stories about the latest hurricane to form in the Atlantic. "It's a shame Junior is on the wrong coast," she told the horses. "If my brother was around, you'd get to see Hurricane Danielle make him shut up."

The Gig was open, and hopefully no one would have to face the wrath of Hurricane Danielle just yet.

Ashley was grateful that she no longer had to live in a cabin with a bunch of people. As much as she missed her mom and Henry and Big Guy and everyone else who lived in the sanctuary, she had gotten used to living on her own here in Fandom.

She was at the counter flipping through a copy of Guns & Ammo, wondering if it was too soon to start making a Christmas wishlist to give Druit and Tesla.

Chuck was busy in Caritas. Totally busy. Because he had so much work to do. Sitting around trying to finish off the really expensive scotch he had kept around solely for himself and eating cherries was totally work.

It was a glorious evening! Warm and pretty and far too lovely to spend inside while eating ice cream. Which meant that Ino was perched on one of the benches outside the store, waiting for her sib to show up and had no plans to allow them to sit inside at all.

This bench. She'd claimed it! Totally better than any seating inside!

… Okay, so maybe the chocolate she'd had a bit ago hadn't been the brightest idea. Scully was going to get a bubbly cheerful sibling tonight!

Ino was pretty sure she wouldn't mind. Or, if she did, she'd deal. Cheerful was a good way to celebrate!

And there was going to be ice cream which made it even better. Ino kicked her feet idly and tried to decide what she wanted.

Chocolate something, she knew that for sure, but beyond that…

[Ino is expecting a sib, but totally open for all your ice cream/Ino needs!]

It had taken a dozen carefully calculated bus trips and hiding out in the basements of abandoned houses to get from Louisiana to here, but Jessica was determined to put that part of her life behind her. Since Bill had abandoned her and she didn't know what to do about the corpse of the man she'd killed -- totally accidentally! -- she'd searched through the house for money and taken off, not caring where she was going as long as it wasn't Bumfuck, Louisiana.

And now she was here, wherever here was. She'd walked across a causeway because it felt like the thing to do.

So now what did she do? She needed to find a place to hide from the sun. And she was so hungry. Maybe she could find some place that had Tru Blood (gross) around here.

"Soooo, any plans for the coming semester? Year? And so on?" Dinah slathered butter on a chocolate-chip muffin and took a huge bite. "Mmmprhle?"
