Kids started showing up that he didn't recognize. That was a sign to Kyle that it was a good day to spend in the junk yard. He put the wrench down where he'd been trying to get a generator working and wiped the grease on a cloth. This wasn't working so well.

So much for spending her first shift at Groovy Tunes looking into some new music. Ariel had almost considered just skipping the whole first day things, considering her current visitors, but it was good to have something else to distract her. Or at least try to distract her, because being confronted with two children, apparently from the future, apparently from two very different futures, was just a bit mind-boggling.

But at least Bruce and Melody seemed to be getting along together and they didn't mind coming with her to the shop for a little. Melody had almost sort of taken Bruce on as a little brother, which made sense, because he was, but, at the same time, he wasn't, and...

Ariel groaned, rubbing her head again and trying not to think about it. It was just too weird thinking that she could have a ten or seven year old daughter or son right now. She let the two of them run around, playing tag and hide-and-seek around the store as she tried not to think about it, but only wound up thinking about it more. Because, okay, Bruce kind of made sense in a way that if everything was actually perfect and life wasn't what it was sort of way, but who the heck was Prince Eric? Did she know him? Would she know him? Was he handsome? Well, duh, of course he was, and a prince, too...

Ariel's thoughts started to drift a little, but not enough to catch a snippet of conversation from Melody. "And sometimes," she said, thinking her mother wasn't paying attention and that she was speaking much quieter than she actually was, "I even pretend....I have fins!"

If she was eating anything, Ariel would have choked on it. "Melody!" she said, eyes going wide. That was another problem with a mystery future; she had no idea what this little girl knew about her or Atlantica or anything! It could be just a time bomb, waiting to go off. "Don't talk like that!"

Melody looked surly as she winced back apologetically, with a look that made Ariel wince, too, and made her think about her father, and she was pretty sure that, as the kids went to go find something else to play with, she heard Bruce whisper, "I do that, too."

Ariel buried her face in her hands. Being a parent was hard!

Groovy Tunes is open!

Kūkaku was having the feeling that today was one of those days where she was better suited to just stay inside and blow shit up, but sometimes, a girl just really needed a cupcake.

Plus, the twins wanted donuts, and, since it was Sunday, she figured she'd be nice and oblige them. Maybe they'd consider it incentive to not let men into her workshop just because they showed up and asked to see her, too.

"Okay," she said, "listen up. I need four bear claws, five regular ones with rainbow sprinkles, five regular ones with chocolate sprinkles, five chocolate ones with red sprinkles..."

You'd think they wouldn't be so picky, but you'd be surprised, and they were big fellows; they could eat a lot of donuts...Kūkaku was probably going to be here for a while.

The thing about having a kid, alternate universe or not, was that she constantly wanted to be entertained. Even after the awesomely bad example he and Caroline had set last night by giving the kid cough syrup to make her sleep, she'd woken up the next morning even more energetic than the day before.

Trying to sleep in was fucking impossible when he had a kid jumping on his back and pulling on his hair. Caoimhe refused to just sit around in their room either, deciding that she wanted to go out and do something. She wanted to have fun.

So, Nathan had picked the activity. That might have been a frightening prospect but he thought he'd done a good job. Of course, as soon as he stepped into Fast Eddie's, he spread his arms wide and shouted, "Bowling!"

Such an ass.

[Nathan's here for two blondes but this is an open place in town so feel free to have families drop in!]

Not having kids or your own, Max was finding, made weekends like this especially amusing. Max could sit in the Perk, grab himself some coffee, watch the chaos outside, and smirk about it. Watching people flail may not have been very nice, but it was more than a little fun.

Of course it may have been foolish for him to forget the simple fact that being amused at someone else's Fandom misfortune was a great way to get some of your own, but... he'd been lucky so far this weekend, why not just assume that would hold true for the remainder?

[Open perk is open.]

As luck would have it, the bar was a pleasant and child-free zone tonight. John had heard what the dance had wrought on the island which made a shift at the bar sound like the best idea ever. Free booze on Chuck Bass was a win-win.

Besides, there was nothing better than hard liquor to help him remember that kids didn't exactly work with his lifestyle.

//I still don't understand how you exist//, Eric was muttering at a tiny blond boy who was drinking from a mug of hot chocolate roughly the size of his head. (Eric believed that since there was no way this kid was related to him, there was no reason not to get it hyped up on sugar.)

//Do you want the long version or the short?// the boy replied in perfect Swedish.

...the Swedish Eric had grown up speaking--a language that hadn't existed in millennia.

It was a good thing that he was far too ancient to spittake over new information.

He sent a slightly frantic text to Sookie as he began interrogating this tiny newcomer.

This was day two of constantly being in the presence of the big ex, hanging out with the kid they were never going to have. Taking that into account, Kate was feeling pretty okay today. It helped that their offspring was about the most adorable, affectionate, generally happy and (surprisingly) well-adjusted little blond kid she'd ever seen.

Still, she was pretty stressed out from having to try and act friendly with Bod. And she couldn't even smoke, because apparently that wasn't something mommy did and she had to respect that. So, that may have had a part to play in their little family's decision to come in to J,GoB's this Sunday afternoon.

What they all clearly needed was lots and lots of sugar. Sweets was something they could probably all agree on. "Oooh, chocolate donuts with rainbow sprinkles?" Yes, that was definitely what was needed. At least if they could make up their minds about what they wanted.

[ooc: Kate is here for the ex and their adorable spawn, but open place/post in town is indeed open!]
