Maybe someone had ordered the portal a little early. Maybe something had gone wrong. Maybe the universe had just planned it this way, to make sure people didn't get too comfortable with everything on the island.

Whatever the case was, there was a portal. It flickered almost gently to life, a giant thing between the trees. When it solidified, it began to pulse-- letting things through.

Or... wait. Not things.

Children.

Hope you picked a discrete place to end your Valentine's Dance night...

[[ for kidlets, parentals, and so on! it's AU kids weekend! ]]

Jane was feeling quite a bit like she'd had just about a cup too many of the punch at the dance last night, leaving her in a little bit of a cross mood at the store, but not so much so that she didn't mind things if they were nice and quiet and peaceful, as they usually were on a Saturday.

But Mr. Nahasapeemapetilon was just very busily going about something in the toy section, leaving Jane exasperated that he just would not seem to take it easy. "Mr. Nahasapeemapetilon," she sighed imploringly, "what are you doing?"

It appeared as though he was completely rearranging the toy section, and moving quite a bit of merchandice up higher on the shelves; Jane looked at his project a little worriedly, but he assured her that she would be most grateful for it later. He'd been here long enough that he could just feel when these sorts of things were going to happen.

This reassurance did not reassure Jane in the slightest.

Sometime after Emma had gotten up, she'd gone off to the Perk. Today was clearly going to be a day that required caffeine, given the mental turmoil that was going on today.

Mocha. Glorious glorious mocha. Come to Auntie Emma.

[OOC: Open Perk is Open!]

Claudia wasn't quite up to braving her room just yet -- she hadn't quite decided how much to tease Quinn for one thing -- but she also had no interest in being spotted in her sexiled state by anyone but Scully, so after waking up early, she'd put her coat on and headed out into the morning air to grab some breakfast.

She peered into the display cases at the God of Biscuits and wondered if she should buy a whole bunch of muffins to bring back to the dorms. And then not offer Quinn any.

There were some weekends that were more distracting than others. Such as the ones where children arrived all over the town, claiming that various people were their parents.

Unfortunately for Vimes this, as last time it happened, took the form of a baby in his office. Cooing at him.

And chewing on it's hand.

There was a moment of staring at one another before Vimes reached for the intercom. "...Ralph, diaper change."

After spending the day getting to know her surprise son and confirming that no one else was going to show up calling her Mom, Jaina had to bring her eight-year-old to work. In a bar. She felt like a horrible alternate universe mother for that, but upon realizing that there was no alcohol to speak of here today, it helped some. Apparently the booze had turned into chocolate milk and the like, which was great because Chak seemed interested in everything, asking "What's that?" about everything he didn't recognize, and wanting to pour drinks.

Tino looked happy about this, like he was going to get an easy night off with the kid helping out, but Jaina just shook her head and told him, "You're not getting by on child labor. Back to the bar."

[As per other kid events, no alcohol at the bar tonight. There are however two real bartenders and one pretend one. Apparently this weekend isn't a dry one. But since it's established already things changed over for today. Oops! ]

"Fraggle Comics!" Robin exclaimed in surprise and joy when he spotted said items.

It was always nice to see something from his world. And apparently the legend of the subterranean creatures had reached this independent publisher.

Robin grabbed the first issue and took it over to the counter. Having met some Fraggles a year or so ago, he wanted to see how the comic compared.

Android's Dungeon is open. Specially for future tykes.

Scully had taken her laptop outside -- it was cold, but too pretty to stay inside when there was wifi to be had. Typing away on one of the park benches, she considered whether a run out to the Cove would be a good idea for later.

It was quiet.

Too quiet.

[for Scully spawn, but open for all your park needs too.]
