The past week had been quiet. One might say too quiet, but Vimes was not such a person. Oh no, not after having various children in his station, looking for their mothers and/or fathers.

This was just the break one needed.

Which meant he was just going to spend the day in his office, procrastinating doing the paperwork that was piling up.

Was anyone really shocked that Jaina went to work after getting back from Hawaii? Were you? Really? She figured most people would be unpacking and sticking to their homes, so even if she'd told Tino he had to cover for her last week, it wasn't a big deal to come in for a few hours.

And if anyone raised any eyebrows at her going to work at the bar after spending half her vacation in one, she was drinking water. Because she still wasn't sure she'd recovered from Thursday night, and from now on anyone who told her she needed to relax and then offered her alcohol was getting punched in the nose.
