'So this is all we know about the geography of Shakespeare?' )

Jane might have vanished eventually - at least physically, because they were both trying to avoid calling any attention to her existence - but the hologram of Shakespeare, the mostly-empty planet with so many black spots they took up most of the display, that one remained.

Eventually, Ender dragged his laptop over and started working there, in front of the projector. It helped him put some pieces in the right places.

The very beginning of the workday passed without incident, which in Lacey's frequently-too-neurotic opinion was a rare enough occurrence that she was grateful for it. That state of affairs was short-lived, though, and doomed from the moment the busboy and the cook got into a heated debate about whether or not the optical illusion postcard on the bulletin board had distorted-looking squares, or non-distorted squiggly shapes.

"You're both wrong," Lacey said once she'd had it with both of them. "It's a camouflaged sabertoothed tiger, and it's coming to eat you both."

She didn't really care if they shut up because they thought she was weird, rather than because she'd successfully intimidated them, as long as they shut up.

She'd come to regret that by the point in the day where they were both standing in front of the board, staring at the postcard and thoroughly hypnotized.

With Ino gone, the shop was now... empty. For most of the week.

Cable wasn't too bothered: he had enough overseas accounts to sustain himself for decades if need be. But it did mean quiet, and an opportunity for other arms dealers to try and make their way onto the island, so: here he was again, hanging the HELP WANTED sign on the door.

He'd left Jan upstairs this time, watching cartoons. Finding AIM on the island on Saturday hadn't been a pleasant surprise. It meant security had to go up. Which meant: checking all their stocks again, reprogramming some of the turrets, and just generally keeping an eye out for who might come in - or near - the shop.

The news that Silas was coming for Parent's Weekend arrived this morning. Bod couldn't say he was entirely surprised but he was nervous anyway. A lot of things had occurred since he'd last seen his guardian and he wasn't sure how things would go and how he would react. It was a nervous excitement but there was an edge of worry to his thoughts.

With that in mind, Bod had taken himself down to the Perk for something warm and sweet. The steaming mug of hot chocolate served both purposes. Taking a seat by the window, Bod opened the book he'd toted with him to a random page and started reading.

The weekend was far enough off that he'd save most of his worrying for Thursday. For now, he was going to aim for looking relaxed even if he wasn't.

Dani was scrutinizing her budget, trying to see where she could cut back since the price of horse feed had suddenly jumped. And of course it had to happen just after Dani had rejected an offer that would have given her access to her family's fortune. Of course, Dani would rather starve than put up with her dad. She just hoped that she wouldn't have to starve to feed the horses.

There were some obvious solutions that came to mind, but Dani refused to consider selling any of her horses. "I'll just have to find other ways to cut back," she mumbled to herself.

The Gig was open, as long as you were a paying customer.

Medusalith was bored. Bored, bored, bored. Even the human art couldn't distract her today.

So if she was experimenting with her hair and not setting off the security devices...well. Who could blame her? She'd turn them off before anyone else came in, obviously.

The gallery? Open.

The completely useless deliveries were back, it seemed.

"Lucky pennies?" Jake rolled his eyes at the box on the counter. "Really? What am I supposed to do with these?"

When Tino didn't offer up any stunning insights, Jake found an old coffee mug and spent the rest of his shift flicking pennies off the edge of the counter into the cup.

The first three days of her moontime had passed uneventfully (mostly because Karla had taken to her bed on Friday and spent the weekend cuddling with a heating pad and sending Mini-Morton on food runs whenever she got hungry), but she still wasn't feeling back up to one hundred percent.

Which was why today, rather than being productive, Karla had strapped a hand broom to the front of mini-Morton and let him zoom around the store. He was having fun and the store was getting cleaned. Go her.

Alex had a bunch of magazines with her and was currently marking pages in them and, on occasion, ripping a page or two out and putting it aside.

Someone had some shopping to do.

The Magic Box is open.

Monday meant that it was Jono's day to work at the Groovy Tunes, and with a shift there, came a bit of catharsis. Some loud, angry music to soothe the nerves. After all, between the stupid way he'd reacted to his Thursday dose of Gremlin venom and the fact that the island seemed to be gearing up for another Parents Weekend, he had a bit to get out of his system here during the in-between.

Avenged Sevenfold should manage that nicely, today. Jono had a growing fondness for Trashed and Scattered. And not just because it was fun to play his guitar along with.

But that had a lot to do with it, yes.

Jack was back behind the bar tonight, still sober. The new DJ (he didn't ask what happened to the last one; his boss didn't seem like the overly chatty sort) was playing the greatest hits of Wham, which didn't strike Jack as the best way to keep a job, but what did he know? He ran a radio statio, but it's not like he listened to half of the music he had access to.

He waved at Tiny, then settled behind the bar for the evening.
