Fraser had left Diefenbaker with Robin today because it made him feel a little more comfortable about leaving with him there. With the horde of dogs and Robin's guns, he figured anything deformed and aggressive would be hard pressed to get into their apartment and survive.

He'd come into work to check on the state of the apartment building and its tenants. He noted the dying plant life and the grotesque animals off in the distance. Fraser didn't tend to carry a gun but he almost felt like he should have been today.

Still, he was safely behind the front desk and the front door was locked to prevent anything from forcing its way in.

By Thursday, the blasted heath had officially spread past the camp grounds. It tainted the trees all over the preserve now, causing them to sway by themselves without a breeze. The grass near the site of the rock itself had greyed further, and crumbled when stepped upon.

A pool full of furry fish had gone corrupt, and the creatures within now more closely resembled grotesque hammerhead sharks with shaggy hides, deadly and threatening. The spreading taint spawned more and more twisted monsters; the teal deer who had survived past the initial few days looked far more monster than deer.

And still, the heath hungered.

Jack didn't want to be at work today. He'd spent the last few days fretting over the radio and exploring the island and mainland, exercising the "usual degree of caution and care" that he'd promised Karla.

This meant he didn't touch the crumbling gray cabins and, when a teal deer charged at him, he threw a rock and bolted.

He didn't even attempt to focus on the paid work he ought to have been doing; he assumed Ms. Cabot had a brain in her head and would understand why he wasn't. Instead, he sent out a quick email to the island mailing list --

If anyone has the first idea what is going on, or wants to discuss what we don't know, please stop by the law office today. I can promise coffee and a lack of biting wildlife. - Jack

-- and then settled in with his computer, trying to make the damned Internet tell him something useful. So far, it wasn't being of much help.

[OOC: Totally open law office for unofficial meet-up and gnashing of teeth, yo.]

Anakin was an extremely stubborn man, but even he knew that when he'd grown a tail, it was time to go to the clinic.

With something foreign feeling like it pushing at his brain, most of his skin gone absolutely gray and this overwhelming urge to eat a Stormtrooper (which was never a good sign), Anakin scrawled a mostly legible note (what the hell, he didn't need claws. Somehow this was all Barney's fault. Maybe he could eat Barney instead? No, cannibalism was...something. Wrong? Was it wrong?) leaving Charlie Swan, then Ralph in charge of the troopers, reiterated that no one who looked infected was to step one foot near the portal or the causeway, flipped the hood of his robe up to cover his eyes, and headed for the door.

"I'm going out!" he bellowed to the station at large, though it felt to him like his tone and pitch was much closer to Vader's voice than to his own.

He had a bad, bad feeling about this, even as he tapped out a "Everything's mostly okay here. Summer invasion, etc., staying here for the week, love you" text to Rory, which took three times as long with claws.

Which he was not telling his wife about, no.

Helen and the horses were both a little freaked out, so they were all staying inside today.

Yeah, Chuck wasn't an idiot. When there was island crap going on he wasn't leaving the house. He did, however, force Tino to work. 'Cause Tino was expendable.

[Yeah mod Tino]
