Ender hadn't realised he'd be having any trouble focusing on his work as a consequence of the past week, but he was... having some.

He picked up a few kumquats and chased away one Alot that had snuck in and gotten stuck behind the 3D printer, all the while trying to condition his brain so he'd be ready to start answering his emails again. It worked, to a point - and he'd never be so far gone that he wouldn't be able to handle his responsibilities - but he was well aware his return emails weren't anywhere near as sharp as they could have been.

Oh well. He couldn't manage to get that worried, either.

Even though Fall break was a good time for Jack, he was happy to get back to the island and his own routine. Which of course meant sleeping in on Monday since he had no classes and then going for a run in the afternoon.

And it was was a perfect day for such a run. Warm but not too hot. Yep, just a perfect day and nothing could break his stride.

That is until a grey furry thing dashed right in front of Jack sending him careening into a bush.

"Seriously!?" Jack shouted and he pushed himself out of a shrub. "I swear that better not be a werewolf or-"

Jack stopped short as said grey furry dog appeared from the bushes and sat down in front of Jack with a friendly bark. Jack's eyes bugged out for a second as he realized that this was not the first time he had seen this grey furry thing before.

"Lojack?"

And Lojack, for indeed that was the dog's name, barked again in greeting and trotted forward to give Jack a friendly lick on his face.

"Okay! Okay! What are you doing here?" Jack laughed as he pulled himself off the ground. He paused for a second and then gave Lojack a wary look. "Taggart isn't following you around, is he?"

Lojack wagged his tail and response and gave a non-comittal bark. Possibly a bark of innocence.

"Annnnnd here's where I'm thinking you can actually talk," Jack said as much to himself as to the dog in front of him. He then let out a small sigh and shrugged before giving Lojack a grin. "C'mon. I bet you're hungry. We'll head back to the dorm. Hopefully my roommate isn't allergic to dogs."

And with that they began the trek back to the dorms.

"And hey, number one rule: No stealing food from my mini-fridge without permission. Okay?"

Lojack barked in response and wagged his tail. Like that was going to happen.

"Hey! I'm serious okay?"

Clearly rules were going to be ignored by Jack's new "pet".

[OOC: Jack's new "pet" is a canon character named Lojack who appeared in few episodes in the first and second seasons of Eureka. Due to animal experimentation he has a 130 IQ points. Yes, this actually makes him smarter than Jack. Since he disappeared from the show? He gets a home here in Fandom. Open for interaction or all your park-ly needs]

Vacation and working on the Habitat for Humanity had been fun, especially for someone who had never gotten to travel much like that before (except maybe for the fish-kissing and the rum-drinking because she swore even after several days she still had a hangover from just the one shot), but Angelica was glad to be back in Fandom. Even surrounded by people from the island, she'd still had to be careful about revealing her mutant status, just in case, so it was good to be able to relax again.

Plus the horses were starved for affection after a week with the island practically emptied. They were all practically clamoring for attention and their turn being taken out for some exercise. She was going to have a busy afternoon.

Of all the things Karla was expecting when she walked to Dite's today, a delivery man toting a cardboard box over five feet tall was not on the list. Anywhere.

"Huh?" Karla was ever so eloquent sometimes.

"Delivery." In case Karla had missed that. "Sign here, please." The delivery guy handed her a clipboard, which she signed without even thinking. Looking it over, the receipt seemed to be for a...Surprise! )

Laughing hysterically, Karla left it right there, outside the door. Why not? IT WAS FULL OF WHIMSY!

A week at home (even if most of it had been spent ducking certain parties who were- understandably- less than pleased with him after the debacle that had been his last visit) had been oddly refreshing. Plus, he got to make at least a half-dozen people kiss a fish. That was always hilarious.

But now he was back in Fandom and back to work as usual.

"...No, Tino, I don't have any knockers, what the hell."

When Jon crawled out of bed that morning, he had planned on just hanging around and enjoying his 'vacation' for a while. That plan had gone out the window after his shower when he found the keys and a note card with just an address printed on it, laying on top of his dresser. So after breakfast, Jon had grabbed the keys and headed over to 69 Serendipity Place.

What he found was a shop with a sign over the door that clearly said 'Fandom Fish 'n Bait'. Inside, the building was half fish store, half bait and tackle shop. The north half of the shop had several brightly decorated fish tanks, stocked with fish and amphibians ready for sale. The shelves around them were full of supplies and decorations for tanks.

The south half of the shop was full of anything and everything a local fisherman would need, as long as they weren't planning on catching anything too big.

Which meant trying to catch the nanny squid was not an option.

A bit of searching in the office found Jon the papers, listing him as the owner of the shop. He grinned and looked around for a radio, and after flipping it on to the local station, Jon stuck a 'Now Hiring!!' sign in the window. At least he would have something to do while he was in town.

Jack Sparrow had certainly not taken advantage of Eric being in Shreveport all last week to sleep entirely through his shift last Monday. And if Tiny told you that, he was a dirty liar--

--who had apparently not been bribed enough.

The Devil's Nest was open. There were specials for people who hadn't gone on break.
