April had boxes. Not too many boxes -- she was just here for the summer, after all -- but enough boxes that she'd gone ahead and hired a guy to haul them up the stairs for her.

He was all sweaty. It was amusing.

Which meant that she was spending the better part of her morning in the lobby of her new apartment building, in a chair that, yes, the mover had brought inside for her, while watching him carry things and occasionally critiquing his lifting technique.

"Lower," she remarked as he passed her by on his way to the elevator. "Those are fragile."

"The box says 'pants'!"

"Lower."

She'd be here until all her boxes were upstairs or the guy quit on her, folks.

[[super open! come meet the new neighbor! possibly in townies comm because you people need to friend her already and i wanted to post. hush.]]

Yeah, Toby was still more than a little disconcerted by the presence of Mumfred the Brownie.

Although so far things hadn't been too bad; the guy genuinely seemed to want to help, as evidenced by the fact that he was bustling about the kitchen, helping the droids out.

Ben came in on time, did a quick sweep of the store looking for new bits of technology to poke at, and then began catching up on the news from home.

One glance at the headlines and he groaned. "Daala's escaped from prison. Of course she has."

He began reading the story--she'd been aided by Boba Fett, also of course. The guy loved being able to poke the Jedi in the eye--and convicted murderer Tahiri Veila was also missing.

A wave of elation rose in Ben's stomach, though the rational part of him realized just how dangerous it was going to be for Tahiri now.

"Kriff."

Just another day in his home galaxy, really.

The shop was open!

"Mumfy, you're doing great work!" Kenzi called from her spot on the counter. Admiring her new pink metallic Docs. "I'm thinking the mannequins need to be more acrobatic, what do you think?"

"Cirque de Soleil?"

"Exactly."

It was Friday, which meant Hope was at work. She was remarkably consistent that way. Also consistent was the way that yet again, she sat behind the counter with her feet up on the counter and a magazine in her lap.

What? She'd done the restocking and the tidying and all the other stuff she had to do. Now she just had to wait for customers.

For once, K-Mart had pretty much nothing to do at the shop, so she was attempting to be actually productive in terms of figuring out what she was doing with the rest of her life, since she wasn't doing the college thing. She'd figured out it just wasn't for her. But aside from that? She'd come up with precisely nothing.

Which would be why she was playing games on her laptop behind one of the counters instead of looking properly attentive. It wasn't like Sean would yell at her. He'd just give her that disappointed face that he was so good at making. But she'd deal with that if it came.

Eric was totally not there at all, being in a galaxy far, far away shut it, I'm tired, and Tiny was behind the bar running up his Angry Birds score. He'll serve you if you're of age, of course.

Another week, another excursion back to Jono's own reality, to do more training with the New Warriors. The moment he returned to the island, he decided that he was going to do something that didn't constitute work. And so returning home to the Boards right away? Right out.

He'd found himself a table by the window this evening, and was nursing a cup of coffee as he looked idly out at the people passing by on the street. Fandom's idea of 'bustle' was far less hustle than New York, but that was refreshing, really. After a few days of alternating between Jubilee's astoundingly hard-ass training regimen and making faces at posters glorifying the Initative while trying to stay out of notice in plain sight, Jono could really handle a bit of hustle-free bustle.

And maybe some cream in his coffee. Whoever brewed this batch put enough grounds in to make it strong enough to sit up and bark.
