Any frustration Fawn may have felt about the island last night dissipated a little by the morning, and when she encountered the music system at work, she half expected to gain her frustration back. But she was pleased to discover that she had finally gotten the hang of the thing. When she went to play a CD, it didn't play the iPod instead. When she went to touch the iPod, she managed to maneuver it where she wanted it to go, without it seeming to have a mind of its own and play something completely different instead. It was a small victory, perhaps, but it put her in a good mood.

Good enough that, if you timed it right, you might even catch Fawn singing a little bit to the music as she went around the store, dusting the shelves when it was slow.

Supposedly, those new upgrades on the register would allow for a person to run the register just by voice recognition, and probably some sort of super spy retinal scan crap that was markedly a violation of her rights, but Britta was still going to give it a try, though it wasn't going to well for her.

"Open!" she demanded, standing in front of the register and then waiting. Nothing happened. "Open!" she tried again, but again, nothing. She gave the side of the register a small smack, because that always helped. "Open!"

"Open sesame?" she tried, with an apologetic look toward Apu, because, hey, she wasn't racist.

That didn't work, either, though, so she sighed and punched in the way to do it Old Skool, which she preferred, anyway. "Technology," she muttered, then gave an apologetic look toward the SquishyBot, because, hey, she wasn't robotist, either.

Shira was busy today, busy unpacking a shipment and cleaning up the area where she was putting it. It was a nice change of pace from the lazier days when shipments had already been put up by whoever had the days before her.

She got everything set up on the shelves and stood back, hands on her hips as she studied the display. She wrinkled her nose and reached out to adjust something. There, that was better.

Just a nice, normal day. She liked those.

K-Mart was worried. Sean had been in a mood the past day or so at work; today, he'd come in and beelined for his office, shutting the door as soon as he got in. That was strange -- he usually left the door open when he was in, even if he was making calls.

But when she'd tried to check on him, knocking lightly at the door, he hadn't answered. She'd heard his voice in the office, talking to someone on the phone, so she hadn't pushed.

At the moment, she was sitting at the register, drumming her fingers idly against the counter.

Alice perched lightly on her stool behind the counter, a frown on her face. She'd seen something in Annja's future when Annja had come in for a bit to take care of some paperwork. She'd seen Annja comforting an upset Sean and an equally upset Savannah.

But she wasn't going to say anything to Annja, since Annja had seemed more like she didn't want to talk. She'd come in, done her business, and left.

Which meant that Alice was sitting perched on her stool and musing thoughtfully.

It wasn't so much that Jaye wanted another job or anything, but... Caritas. It was a lot like the mothership calling her home. Well, she thought that's what it was like. There was probably someone in this town who'd had a mothership call them home who'd be like "That's not what it's like at all" but whatever. So, at least for the summer, she figured she could handwavily cuz I don't wanna play with myself offer to pick up a shift while they had some available.

So on her first day she arrived a whole two minutes late, which would be the only time she got here that early, and got herself a drink. Because wasn't that the real reason anyone ever went to work at a bar anyway?
