After a long (long, long, long) weekend where Jan had apparently decided that sleep was the devil and absolutely refused to go to bed, Cable was... well, kind of looking forward to some peace and quiet.

Which was why he'd gone in and opened up the store, taking Tether with him.

Now the dog was curled up by the door while he went through the news in blissful, wonderful silence.

Mmm. Silence.

It appeared that all the free catering -- uh, kids -- had gone away. That was sad. Max had really been enjoying that free catering. But fortunately the cafe was open, so Max was making do.

At least, he was trying to. He hadn't counted on the stunning inferiority of this place's pie compared to the stuff from Saturday.

And that was how Max came to be found giving the girl behind the counter a firm lecture about having pride in your work and never, ever selling a man a defective slice of pie. She didn't seem amused.

So this was what it was like to be a landlord. Landlady? Was that sexist? Laurie had no idea, but she'd totally take 'landlady' because she was a lady, thank you. That logic worked well enough for her.

She was perched behind the desk going through old tenant files, mostly out of boredom. She had an updated list of people who lived here now, sure, but it was always interesting to learn about who'd come before. And their weird habits. "What is with all these carpet cleaning invoices? They're so specific."

Priestly was only a little bit late to open the diner today unlike his mun, despite having had to try to wash dried soap, toothpaste, and who knew what else out of his hair.

The cook gave him a long, serious look when he came in, and Priestly braced himself for the worst.

"You were way cuter at five," the cook said finally.

Priestly was pretty sure he'd dodged a bullet.

It seemed there were some forces at work on the island that were not quite ready to see the end of the weetiny transformation. At least, Jake was going to assume it was the island and not, say, Tino, behind the fact that every. single. glass. at Caritas seemed to have been replaced by sippy cups.

On the bright side, Jake supposed, it would make the process of making mixed drinks a little more streamlined.

SPECIAL:
10% OFF ALL MIXED DRINKS

Potential customers would just have to deal with drinking liquor from a sippy cup, that's all.

After he finally left Derek's house, Jack had run some errands to make sure his smaller self had not in any way wrecked his life, and that Emma was safely on her way back to New York.

It had taken some doing, and Tiny was glaring at Jack when he finally got to the bar. Apparently certain bartenders felt Jack was being derelict in his duties, and, moreover, did not like answering the business phone.

A bit later, Jack was settled into a corner of the club, paperwork and phone on the table before him and his laptop showing a stream of the presidential debate. For an election that wasn't in his universe or his country, he was starting to care rather a lot about the outcome.

[OOC: Bar open with no OCD because late.]
